I think it would be better to beat the game. This way, you not only see which technique is whose but also what they approximately do. I have a horrible premonition many of these would be indechirable puns.

What i DO remember, though, that half of Genma's techniques consist of the panda jumping forth, showing a sign to the enemy, then having no other effect.

For now, my 1st level Ranma has only one "ougi", てきぜんだいぎゃくそう (redded out so I cannout use it). and I've already wracked my brain trying to dechipher it. "Great ???? in front of enemy" where "???" is one character away from "massacre". My lame pun senses are tingling. :x

My main reason for script extraction at all is because you don't always have to get all, or even most of your highest power moves, to defeat the end boss. So at least with the script transcribed and translated there's a list of everything to work with.

LOL  It was the "Saotome Secret Technique"

because you don't always have to get all, or even most of your highest power moves, to defeat the end boss.

Eh? You get random encounters while wandering around. Just keep walking around until you max the character levels. Whatt the hell you need the boss for?

LOL#2: While checking the shops, I saw "sailor fuku" which only Akane could use (+10 defense) and "PIKOPIKO hammer" which, again, only Akane could wield (+25 attack, -10 speed). Unfortunately, I managed to spend all my money on antidotes at that point :(

I'd rather have her keep the speed. Reason for the bosses is because in many games of the same 5 year period also had it so certain attacks would not show up without fighting the bosses. And without knowing how far in the plot you are its easy to accidentally get to the end one before realizing it. At least in a few games on gameboy where I have played illiterate. I haven't beaten any game illiterate on more advanced systems but its not impossible to imagine pulling the same.

I've beaten the English version a few years ago and I didn't notice anything like that. The attacks appear as the character levels grow, nothing else. AFAIR, there are eight per character. With half the special attacks for girls consisting of first aid and cheering the party up.

For now, at level 4, they have:
Ranma: a) running away, b) meteor kick (single enemy, moderate damage)
Ryouga: a) some weird-named move where he just taunts enemies with his umbrella, b) bakusai teketsu (little damage, all enemies)
Akane: a) healing (single ally), b) jigokuguruma (Hellish ???) (single enemy gets thrown into the air for moderate damage)
Shampoo: a) healing (single ally), b) shampooing single target (probably should cause a status effect but I didn't notice any)

The thing is, in this game equipment plays a crucial role. I just had Akane (sailor fuku + hammer) one-hit-one-kill most enemies while Ranma barely scratched them. But for managing equipment, you need to at least know hiragana and katakana (kanji are never used in item descriptions as the font is too small) and have an e-dictionary at hand.

Also, there are two plot items, kettle and bucket, which could be always used on the Jusenkyou-cursed characters. Surprisingly, P-chan has the same stats as Ryouga :?

And, finally, an undamaged English version with correct interface! 8)

Bah. Then I'm at least an half-idiot. It took me a whole day to think of this method.

thankee kindly. The way that slightly corrupt version kept crashing was making it near impossible to enjoy the game.

I forgot about this technique for a while, but I just want to thank you, Cheb, for that updated link. Like Spokavriel said, that other version I had was alright, but the way it kept crashing and the poor interface were enough to drive me nuts!
Water, water, everywhere, and all was cursed and black!
Drowned ones cast bad spell and out come pig, girl, duck, panda!
Swirl, swirl, slithery pond, and join with magic spring!
Swirl, swirl, dirty pond, and rid the cursed sting!
Here my prayer, I beg you please!
Now turn these curses BACK!

I've actually been playing with my actual NES and doing allot of light gun games lately. Partly because I'm trying to forget the corrupt copy before going back and playing the clean hack/patch.

Just wanted to note, this game has a SNES RPG Classics shrine site, found here: http://shrines.rpgclassics.com/snes/ranma/

Its Specials page gives very basic outlines of what each technique does - it's only thanks to this that I found out what most of the attacks that don't do direct damage actually do, because more often than note, Paralyze, Confuse, Sleep and similar powers don't work for me in games like this.
