Frankly, I'm more familiar with the fanon characters than with the canon ones in many respects. I'm reading my way through the manga, but I don't think I would ever finish it if I didn't already have emotional investment in the characters from reading so many fanfics. While it has funny moments, character growth is not only absent, some characters such as Nabiki experience character shrinkage. Early on, Nabiki is interested in money but there is more to her than just that. Later on, she becomes a caricature of greed. Kasumi is generally portrayed as being the force that holds the entire family together and keeps everything running, even if she occasionally indulges in some mild revenge, but who is not only never thanked, but is barely noticed. Even as far as I've gotten into the manga, she has had very little screen time for me to form any opinions of her canon self from.

I don't really see Ranma worshipping gods outright, at least not without having been in a D&D universe for a really long time.. or the scenario being an AU where he grew up there with the expectation that one picks a team.

That said, I can totally see Ranma swearing by a deity or three, and perhaps praying for guidance when he's pretty sure he's fucked. While I'd peg Ranma as Good, I think he'd gravitate towards the Lawful Good deities.. he'd be interested in the ones that embody principles he thinks he ought to uphold rather than the principles he consistantly does in practice.

A Ranma who's been in a D&D universe for some time and grown accustomed to there being real deities could look to Torm or Bahamut for guidance. The Path of Light would appeal to a Ranma fresh from the real world, especially one who has moved on from the Tendo scene, cut ties, etc.. in the interest of pursuing further martial mastery or just doing something with his life in general.

I could also see an embittered and more 'unaligned' Ranma, especially one who's been jaded for many years post-manga, looking to the Traveler as an example of how to avoid harmful entanglements and live on his own terms.
