I have been… testing… yet another web browser radio listener. I can tell you here and now that "BR Heimat" is definitely Fun Listening.

BR Heimat... Sounds like Bayrischer Rundfunk Heimat... Bavarian Radiostation Homeland.

We usually have the Antenne Bayern on at work: https://www.antenne.de/programm/empfang ... n-internet - Mail one is this stream: http://play.antenne.de/antenne.m3u

Indeed it is Bayerischer Rundfunk that produces this channel. I have it and about sixty other German and Austrian channels embedded in that player page, all from the main-line broadcasters. They all get listened to, including the classical channels.

Edit: As an aside, here is a Norwegian station:
http://www.northernstar.cc/ — Radio Northern Star
I found it while searching for material on power line senders (linjesendere, in Norwegian). These were small LW and MW transmitters that used high-voltage transmission lines as their transmitting aerials.

Did you know that North Korea's 'shield mark' was this electrifying?

While that looks like a nice patch/emblem (first time I've seen it, so no, I didn't know it was that electrifying), I'm unsure if they have dams that provide power...

Well, the aim of this one is hydropower, and this one also claims a power generating capacity. Same with this one, this one and this one.

I stand corrected.

But even if they do produce power: the majority of the country lives in blackout conditions.

So that electrical power depiction... kinda ironic putting that on there. Atleast they're providing power in a somewhat climate-neutral way via those dams :)

Then a bit above that... the wheat/grain plants...

Yeah... those also are kind of misplaced.

Not the first time that Big Plans end up in the Recycle Bin.

Aside: The Icelandic word for emblem/coat of arms is "skjaldarmerki", which literally translates as "shield mark" or "shield device". Think heraldry.

I feel like bragging a teeny-tiny-little bit today.

Indicators.png

Because I think the indicator strip on my UK radio station page is functionally pretty nice.

ON = I have selected a stream.
RX = The stream is coming in.
"text" = The name (up to 24 chars) I gave the stream.

We have no test cards/patterns any more here, but teletext is still going strong, both on the screen and on the web: http://www.textavarp.is/

The website was recently upgraded from Courier New to a more proper teletext font, a freeware one named Bedstead.

Now this looks like a nice device: http://www.ka7oei.com/syn_blank.html

It's a mains-synchronised noise blanker that, based on the MP3 files, can clean up some really bad buzzes.
