Tested personally, made one liter as a gift for my friend's birthday, was thanked much. Myself, can't have enough of it.
1. 0.5 liter of vodka
2. 50 grams of fresh horseradish root cleaned and cut to ~1cm thick sticks
3. one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
4. one teaspoon of honey
(the last two are taste softeners)
Mix, leave in cool dark place for 4 days (I did 10, was only better).
P.S. My mistake, forgot this step. Disturb regularly (2 times a day?) to even the mix. I was simply sloshing it around.
Filter (through gauze, coffee filter) to get rid of residue.
Filter again.
Done.
Expect some minor product loss to the filtering process.
The biggest hassle was, of course, getting the root. I had to resort to online eco shops for perverts loving everything fresh. Minimum delivery cost was steep there, had to buy a huge pineapple in addition
Turned out horseradish root resembles a jumbo white carrot, one root is good for 3 or 4 bottles of vodka after shaving it. So I made ~1.4 liters out of the first root, the second one is still in my fridge, waiting to be used. One liter went to the gift, the 0.4... Argh, why is it running out so fast (Hint: too too tasty )
