Re: Fukufics List Wiki

Is there an official way to update links, or do we post here? One of the fics on there, shown as 'lost' is "Wait For Sleep" by Kurushi. It says on the wiki that there is 1 chapter, but there are 3 chapters/parts of this that can be accessed with the following links: http://kurushi-ficage....

Re: Things that turn you off in fan-fiction

Hmm, a chance to rant and whine? Count me in! I hate spelling errors, homophones, and attempts to sound more formal in language that fail terribly. I hate porn that defies the laws of physics and/or reason (twisting, unnaturally flexible for a lazy character, coming in gushing spurts in unison every...

Re: Reaction towards death of giant monsters

Well, Ebirah is basically a giant shrimp/lobster monster. Me? I'd say to some extent, ethics and remorse are a little moot. I imagine Ranma's first impression would be something along the lines of "Thank crap! Fighting a giant shrimp/lobster monster was an awful experience!" If Ranma had ...

Re: CATOC revised ch 2

It seems that since you've changed it from the original chapter, you've changed half of the beginning pronouns to "his" and left the other half as "it". A simple editing mistake, thought I should give you a heads up :)

Re: CATOC revised ch 1

Coming a bit late to this concrit party... It's not as bad as some I've read, but it's good that you're prepared to put some work into it. My most useful comment would be this: A new first sentence. The story should hook people the second they open it, and a sentence like There are many different pa...

Re: The Road Less Travelled

Eep! Sorry I took so long to reply to everyone! I got a short paying job that I had to dedicate a lot of time to, and I injured my foot, so I've been occupied with working hard and feeling sorry for myself recently; I didn't think it was a very good mood to look at concrit in  Spokavriel: I ne...

Re: The Road Less Travelled

Thanks very much, frice2000! Your comments are spot-on and I'm going to have to take some time to absorb them. I'm absolutely going to take some more time to write the ending. I've had a lot of practice starting stories, less so finishing them well, so your comments are going to help me make this in...

Re: The Road Less Travelled

Ah, Nekotama? I didn't intend for this to be a long, chaptered fic: I want this to be a one-shot, so what you see here is what you get. Though if you're wanting a continuation, perhaps there is scope for more. I actually like writing stories that don't answer every question, so I never intended to f...

Re: The Road Less Travelled

That was a little scary. Ranma had always thought that strength and resilience had been male traits. It put the women of the household in a much different light at breakfast. She watched them out of the corner of her eye as they chattered amongst themselves. What Ranma had once taken to be the stoic...

The Road Less Travelled

So I've knocked out a first draft. It's a little over 18k. I'm hoping to get feedback on various levels; plot, spelling, grammar, etc. I write in Australian/British English, so words like "colour" I will intend to keep as is, though ^_~ In a more in-depth intro to readers, I've been warne...

Re: DRE Chapter 5

It has good pacing, and it's good to see that there are ideas for further on in the fic; there's a sense of direction. I haven't read the previous chapters yet, but it hasn't confused me too much, either, which I always take as a good sign :) Two comments on the content: Ranma is written very young....

Re: Ranma's instrument

What about drums? It strikes me that the variety and interchangability of percussion instruments really suits someone on the road; there will always be something to slap or whack, whether hollow or not. It would certainly be suited to an "anything goes" ideology. That, and it is quite poss...

Re: The Road Less Travelled: Yin, Yan, and gender identity!

I'm flattered that I've got quite a few replies on the subject now. I'm sorry that I've taken a while to reply to everyone. What has been said is all very useful, and your perspectives have given me some hints as to which areas I need to tweak or reconsider. I'll address you in turn. First, Shanami:...

Re: The Road Less Travelled: Yin, Yan, and gender identity!

Though only a trinket in the human realm, Akane has worn it so close to her body for so long that her soul has become unbalanced. That part didn't make sense in the first post? Sorry. I'll elaborate: The pendant Akane has been wearing has been leeching out yan. It's now a spiritual, or occult, tain...

Re: The Road Less Travelled: Yin, Yan, and gender identity!

From my experience, yang/yan is used interchangably; it seems to be a different form of romanisation. In some of the Tao books I've read in the past (most, actually) and a few martial arts sites I visited when I was really into my training, "yan" has been preferred. Even so, "yang&quo...
