Warning: This is NOT based on 'Lunia: Record of Lodoss Wars' but on 'Record of Lunia War'

Authors Notes: This is the only time I have them before the Fic, When playing Lunia I decided that this would make a nice manga or anime. From there I went to crossovers, and from there to inserting Ranma.

Episode 00
Tutorial

It was a bad day to be Ranma. Not that he knew it. But once again the forces of evil ... stupidity were gathering, well not gathering, more like two of the more moronic players had gotten their hands on magical items. Gosunkugi sucked big time when it came to magic, he would have made a great mechanic, a good technician or any other technology based occupation. Kuno just lacked the mental power to use any item properly, especially since his bad poetry was incompatible to most magical artefacts. The last one was not that bad, just merely extremely misguided. Nodoka Saotome had gotten her wishing ring from one of those street shops that are never there when you look back. While she had good intentions, the path to hell is usually paved with good intentions. Last was Ranma Saotome himself, now herself. He had the biggest problem, he was being followed by a butterfly that was supposed to grant him a true wish. Anyone familiar with true wishes should know why he was running away.

As most people playing role playing games will know, properly stacking wishes of various power was plainly impossible. So welcome to stacking chaos. Sorted by the most powerful first.

Butterfly had "I just want to make it safely past the week" (a true wish means what he really wants after all)
Nodoka's ring "I wish my son was finally manly with the girls worthy of him" (as I am not a fan of the fiancées the items mind adopts my stance on this)
Kuno's sword, the big one "And thee shall slay the foul sorcerer Saotome so that the fair pigtailed maiden shall receive her eternal freedom from all bonds and she shall embark on her quest for her true companionship" (does not compute)
Gosunkugi prepared an advanced ritual with lots of overpriced ingredients, that were completely unnecessary as the glass shard in the middle of the badly carved, not drawn, circle was containing the wish "Eternal banishment upon you Saotome, for your crimes you shall a enter a dimension where you will reap what you have sown" (Ranma might be a jerk but as far as I am considered his karmic balance should be positive)

Three very quiet days later Ranma had a feeling on doom, it wasn't quite the 'I'm gonna die' but more like 'if I make it through this either I'll be very happy or I will kill you all!!!'
Meanwhile the true wish was busy sorting the other wishes, while it couldn't negate the other wishes it could make things easier for Ranma, since the others were cast while it was active.
The wishing ring while powerful only approved of very few females for Ranma and only two of those lived in Nerima. And being manly with any of those two females was not an option with the current situation. When Gosunkugi's unnecessary ritual offered new dimensions, it completely agreed and started searching. The swords scream for help was answered and all the wishes started screening and trying to figure out what Kuno meant, as 'shall' was and older form of should, at least that was how the wishes decided to take it, things got weirder, first there were 3 wishes inside. 'you should slay Ranma' wouldn't work since the sword the wish had inhabited was purely ornamental, and 'should slay' didn't make sense. It was decided that 'remove Ranma' was better since there was already a wishing ritual pointing that way. 'Ranma-chan should be free' they all agreed on that, as Ranma-chan was Ranma the engagements rivals and family had to be negated, removing Ranma from the dimension just started to sound better and better. Ranma was to supposed to find his own companions. A quest, they decided to send him on a quest in a foreign dimension to find love, friendship and help others. As Ranma had wished for a quiet week the earliest they could start was Sunday to Monday, it was a European butterfly after all, just past midnight, and the energies started growing and preparing.

Ranma was sleeping when his wish ran out. His last thought had been 'I don't want a new fiancée' lucky him, he wasn't about to get one, poor him, he was going to land in a whole new mess.

Exactly past midnight the energies struck, in a moment of consideration his backpack sleeping bag, clothes and a few other choice items, like Nabiki's gold nuggets and gemstones were taken as well. All got neatly packed, folded and few good bye and 'wish completed notices' were written and distributed. It was going to be a very interesting morning.

While Ranma was in a soft controlled transition, which was a very hard thing to do if you knew which dimension you wanted to go to, in Nerima everyone was waking up, first was Kasumi. When she entered the bathroom and sleepily saw a letter taped to the mirror.

Kasumi-san

As you are reading this letter Ranma Saotome was taken from this dimension according to the wishes from Nodoka Saotome, Tatewaki Kuno and Hikaru Gosunkugi. He is off to find his destiny and companions. As he held you in higher regards then anyone else here, please remember him fondly. He shall reside in that dimension forever, apart from all interference from your world.

The Wishes

Kasumi blinked, blinked again and dropped heavily on her stool. He was gone, her life was once again reduced to nothing, all the excitement was gone. Automatically she washed herself and left to sit by the pond. After a dew moments she returned to get a bottle of sake. All koi had long ago died so she offered her sake to the water, watching it was drank by the water. "Good luck, may you find what you seek." There would be no breakfast that day.

Genma was the next one to wake up, without thought he dressed, when he reached for Ranma to throw him out of the window he grabbed paper.

Panda-san

As wished by your wife Ranma has been taken to the ones who could be worthy of being his companions. By orders of Tatewaki Kuno and Hikaru Gosunkugi he has been taken from this dimension to his destiny as a champion. As per orders all current engagements are hereby declared void as it was wished. The emancipation and negation papers have been properly filed and all his debts cleared. As such he might not be rich in his new dimension but he will not be lacking comforts for a longer time. He will prosper in a world worthy of him, with those who are worthy of him.

The Wishes

Genma growled, his son wanted him to believe such a story? Oh he was going to drag his ungrateful child back and marry him off at once. And how dare he not share money with him. He had know the boy was hiding something.

Akane Tendou woke a little later and ignored the letter on her desk, she was late for her morning run after all.

Nodoka Saotome awoke in Kasumi's room and upon getting up saw a letter on her blanket.

Nodoka-san

As by your wish Ranma was taken from this world to another dimension where he has the chance to be 'manly' with females worthy of him as the only two females on this world are not an option. Even with Tatewaki Kuno's wish to free Ranma from all engagements the girl and women in question were never fiancées and would have been killed by the former girls jealous actions. He has been sent on a quest to prove himself and find his companions. He will never bee able to return and nobody will be able to follow him as wished by Hikaru Gosunkugi. All changes to the engagements and Ranma's emancipation have been filed properly, as such these changes are legal and approved. Honour debts have been fulfilled and monetary compensation have been made where needed. As such Ranma is off well enough to make a good living until he has adapted.

The Wishes

Nodoka was a simple women, on the one hand honour was a main facet. While not in the way she wanted it this was good. It shocked her that none of the girls chasing Ranma were worthy of him. That he was gone, lost to her forever struck her the hardest. At least the letter promised to give her manly son a chance to claim several females, who knew, maybe some of them would be exotic, after all in a different world it wouldn't matter if they were gaijin or anything else. She briefly wondered if a succubbus would be a good choice.

Ukyo Kuonji woke and saw the letter on her night-stand.

Ukyo-san

The engagement has been negated and the termination properly filed. Your female status has been restored and monetary compensation has been paid into your account. Ranma was removed from this dimension to pursue females worthy of him and to live his destiny as a champion. This was done according to the wishes from Nodoka Saotome, Tatewaki Kuno and Hikaru Gosunkugi.

The Wishes

The girl stared, read the letter again before dressing quickly and heading for the the Tendou Dojo.

Elder Khun Lo

As decreed by the wishes of Nodoka Saotome, Tatewaki Kuno and Hikaru Gosunkugi, the kisses of marriage and death have been declared void by the debt the Amazon's have to Ranma. He has been forever removed from this world and those of this world to pursue his destiny and find companions worthy of him. The Amazon Xian Pu may return with honour and will bear her curse as a penalty forever due to her actions. Mu Tsu shall never earn her touch because of his actions in endangering innocents and will bear his curse as well. Honour has been satisfied. Monetary compensation has been taken from you. The secrets have been shared.

The Wishes

As she lit her pipe she agreed with some of the letter, while it pained her that her great granddaughter was unworthy she had always know it. To see it in written by what seemed both divine and arcane magic made it worse. That most of the gold and gems that she had taken with her were gone only fortified the feeling that she and the Amazons had escaped with a slap on the wrist. She bounded of to wake the two children. It was time to visit the Tendou Dojo.

Soun didn't get a letter and was wondering why Kasumi was sitting by the koi pond and not making breakfast.

Tatewaki woke to find a letter taped to his chest.

Tatewaki-san

As per your wish Ranma, his girl side, your pig-tailed girl, have been removed and are free to pursue their destined ones. He will find someone worthy of him and his girl side in another world as has been decreed by the wishes of Nodoka Saotome, Hikaru Gosunkugi and your wish. He will find his destiny, happiness and love apart from those that were binding him. Monetary compensation has been taken for your transgression against him and his girl side.

The Wishes

"What kind of foul sorcery is this? I shall go forth to the Tendou's so I can confirm the death of the foul sorcerer and welcome the pig-tailed girl in my arms." Then he called for Sasuke to help him dress in a nice kimono to woo his love. If the wishes weren't used up, they would have wondered why nothing from their latter had managed to stick to him. He had completely misinterpreted almost everything that had been written.

Hikaru Gosunkugi read his letter with a smile, that looked creepy on him.

Hikaru-san

As wished Ranma has been banished from this dimension. He will full fill his destiny and find his loves as has been decreed by the wishes of Nodoka Saotome, Tatewaki Kuno and yours. All obligations have been resolved and compensations have been made.

The Wishes

While he didn't burn in hell he was gone, he would have danced but a voice interrupted him "There you are, come with me and we will find out everything at the Tendou Dojo." When he turned he saw the Amazon elder. It was shaping up to be a bad day.

Kasumi let everyone in, she had been expecting it after all. Most of the family was already gathered, Ukyo had just beat the amazons to the doujo.

"Ranma is gone, and everything has been resolved, he is truly free as far as I can see." Cologne began. "Because of several letters left behind by the wishes that did this we know a bit more."

"Ranma because of you I've seen hell! How dare you run away." Ryoga had arrived.

"I didn't get a letter." Akane complained, not that she wanted one.

Nabiki was pissed of, everything was gone. Had she truly been that bad? She didn't believe it. "Actually sis, I took yours from your room. Why don't we all compare them to find out what exactly happened."

"I got rid of it, he will not make fun of me!" Ryoga exclaimed. After a hard hit from the elder and Happosai combined with a few threats he responded "I forgot, I got enraged and don't remember anything from the liar."

"I'll start reading." Nabiki declared.

Akane-san

As wished by Nodoka Saotome, Tatewaki Kuno and Hikaru Gosunkugi Ranma has been removed from this world and will find the companionship and happiness he deserves. You are hereby free and he has been compensated from your college fund for your transgressions against him.

The Wishes

"That jerk how dare he steal from me!" Akane raged "I only did what he deserved!" Ryoga, Kuno and Gosunkugi and Genma were nodding. Shampoo, Ukyo and Kasumi were glaring at Akane. Nabiki, Nodoka, Cologne and Happsai were giving the girl looks of pity. Soun was crying in a corner.

Happosai offered Nabiki the next letter.

Nabiki-san

As wished by Nodoka Saotome, Tatewaki Kuno and Hikaru Gosunkugi, Ranma has been removed from this world to find true love and his destiny. All your funds have been taken along with assorted items for compensation for your abuse of him. All debts have been paid and honour has been fulfilled.

The Wishes

Happosai smirked as the girl glowered, he then offered his own letter.

Elder Happo Sai

As by the wishes from Nodoka Saotome, Tatewaki Kuno and Hikaru Gosunkugi your student Ranma has been awarded Mastership of the Mukabetsu Ryu supplied with scrolls to finish his learning of the higher forms. He will find companion ship and will be worthy the title of a master without any baggage from your world, as he will be surrounded by his loved ones.

The debts have been full filled and compensations for your transgressions have been made.

The wishes.

One by one the letters have been read and painted a bad picture. Only Kasumi's letter was truly positive. It made for a very bad picture for those attending. The compensations were difficult to swallow as well. Nabiki was broke, Happosai lost everything worthwhile. Actually the only one with a positive balance was Kasumi, she had gotten a new teacup.

Waking up peacefully was rare, waking up peacefully under a tree in the open was rarer again. Had the panda dragged him of at night for a training trip? He couldn't remember. After getting up the young man looked around his full backpack was there, a small tent strapped onto it and since when was it full anyway. When emptied he realized that it didn't hold much in the way of clothes, but more in the way of items, his favourite find were the scrolls, all techniques till grandmaster level in quite a lot of schools. Then he spied the letter, stuck on a branch.

Ranma-san

Nodoka Saotome, Tatewaki Kuno and Hikaru Gosunkugi have made wishes that affected you. As you wished for a quiet week we have combined our powers to have a result in the best possible way. All engagements have been declared void, you are not in your own world any more and since your mother wanted you with girls worthy of you honour has been satisfied. Tatewaki wished you to be removed and to be free. You are now on the path to find someone worthy of you, as there are many interesting women and girls on this world we have no doubts that you will find someone or more to find your destiny with. Your mother is hoping for more then one (this is called a hint). As Hikaru asked for there is no way to return from this dimension or for others to follow you, as he asked for you to 'reap what you have sown'. As such and with the clearing of all debts for you you have sufficient materials to continue learning and enough money to live in comfort for a while.

The world you are in currently is a world of magic, there are several gods watching everything. We will not go into the details as you can learn them while living here, as a debt from Genma Saotome to you we have removed the fear of cats, the panda now has it. It is still you that has to learn to control the cat. As the pressure point of the Cat's Tongue has been removed you are very resistant to fire as the Phoenix Pill is a permanent part of you. The scrolls contain the art as taught, or should be taught, by Happosai, the Amazons, the Saotomes and the Tendous. You have been granted the deserved title of Master and once you finish and prove yourself worthy you will be awarded the titles of Grandmaster and True Warrior.

The Wishes

"I'm what?!?" Ranma cried out after rereading and finally getting everything. He was on a completely different world, all alone and free to do whatever he wanted.

He had no idea what to do. Where to go.

As he was at a path he decided to follow it, only which way was he supposed to go?

"Meh, Ranma just start going. And stop talking to yourself, you've been spending to much time around Kuno." repacking everything he decided to hurry, as he didn't have much in the way of food in his supplies. "Magical world. Did it have to be a magical world, I bet my destiny is pissing of some huge ass sorcerer and beat him up." Little did Ranma know how true that was.

In a city a Royal Wizard with an overblown ego sneezed.

A week later he had a basic handle on this world, it was sort of rural almost medieval. You went to a town, where he surprisingly understood everything, asked if they needed help, beat up some thugs, drug them back or helped with some heavy lifting. He met slimes, little green things that reminded him of Akane's cooking Being a bodyguard paid more then other jobs. He still couldn't wrap his mind around some of the flowers, there were talking sunflowers that attacked anything that came too close by pollinating them or making thorny bushes grow. This world was weird. It made him feel like at home.

Money was easy, first there were copper coins, a hundred coppers were one silver coin, a hundred of those were a gold coin. You could find gems crystals and all that. The wood from those trees with arms was especially hard and could be sold. Fur from wolves and other creatures was good as well. Getting a decent map was hard so he tried making one but after a few days gave that up.

Ranma's first ecounter with a slime was memorable.

"Nyu?" a little green blob of slime asked. At least he thought it asked.

Ranma stared at the smiling blob of slime. "I have no idea what you just said."

"Gyaguugaah"

"I don't speak .. slime I guess it is." he responded.

The little green thing slid closer and bit into his ankle.

Ranma twitched. "If I just insulted you I'm sorry, but I have no idea what you are talking about."

"Nunugeemeh"

"Can you let go please?" he lifted his leg, with the slime still attached to his foot.

"Nuhmr"

He saw another slime, a bit bigger and yellow slide out of the grass. "Your family?" Then he dodged as the yellow slime spit a yellow beam at him. "Oh no you don't!" He gathered his Ki and "Mouka Tabashia".

The resulting explosion resulted in bits of yellow slime being splattered all over the place. "What a mess." He pulled the green blob of his foot, then pulled his shoe from it's mouth and gave it a pat on the head, or something. "Well bye, and try not to follow me."

As he went on he just knew it was following him. "Not a bright guy, reminds me of P-chan."

Author Notes v0.0: So this is my Lunia Ranma cross, after such a long time it's hard getting into the flow again. I'll probably revise this thing several times. I already have ideas for expanding things here and there. Especially Nerima. If something doesn't make any sense in the notes, ignore it has been removed or expanded upon.

First of all, I'm happy to see you're writing again. Hope there'll be ab update to 'Sailor Santa' and 'Senshi, Onsen People and Ranma'


This story looks promising so far. I haven't played the game so I don't know much about it, but Ranma crosses with fantasy worlds is often made of win in my opinion. This is quite good so far, but what happened to Ranma's curse? Is it gone?

Other than that, looks like it'll be an interesting take on 'Ranma in a D&D world'. Mind you, I'm totally clueless about that game as well - haven't played a computer game (ANY computer game) in months.

Wizard on an ego trip trying to become a god by awakening the powers of an ancient civillisation that luckily got destroyed. as I said, got the screen captures. they are a nice introduction as it builds up manga style.

So far, Record of Ranma Wars looks like it has a good start, and I look forward to reading more.

Much as I may disagree with your judgements regarding fiancees and how untarnished Ranma is, I would like to point out one thing with respect to Akane's letter.

College fund. I'm not so sure this concept exists in Japan, if you recall in Love Hina despite being pretty much broke, and the inn/dorm not exactly bringing in the cash, there are never any mentions of worrying about having the cash to go to Tokyo U, just getting the marks in the entrance tests.

I don't think the cultural context really exists for a college fund, nor do I really credit Soun (and definitely not Nabs) to have set one up for his daughters.

As far as I know there are the ... gouvermental (?) universities, which are free. and the private universities, which aren't, from a friend who was in japan I've heard that the private ones are very expensive. But you get in if you can pay. The others have those often hellish tests we can see in so many animes.

Heck there are two tiers of uni access here, if you are a full fee-paying student, the bar for entry to your degree is lower than if you are just trying to get in based on your UAI. But college funds aren't exactly something you hear about here.
