Suggestion for when you get to year two:

In canon, the Weasley twins get Ginny to take a dose of Pepper-up Potion. This can cure the common cold, but has the side effect of making smoke pour out of your ears for several hours. Given that Washu's hair is a brighter red than a Weasley's is, it would be amusing for Ranma to decide to repeat the experiment and add some to her drink. Then sit back and watch as somebody (Sasami or Mihoshi being most likely) notices and screams

"WASHU-CHAN! YOUR HEAD IS ON FIRE!!!"

For maximum effect have Washu panic a little as well, untill someone grabs a bucket of water. Then have everyone panic because the smoke won't stop.

Something I've been thinking about during the Mau adventure was that Ranma could make a doppelganger -- something able to do because of masu DNA -- to stay on Earth while she goes to Mau. There'd be some things to do on Earth, and she wouldn't have much time to do them AND go to Mau at the same time by herself.

So it would go into two different perspectives. Ranma and 'clone' Ranma. 'Clone' Ranma could visit Hotaru, learn about Skuld living at a certain shrine, and a few other things. Normal Ranma could travel to Mau, learn some martial arts and magic, do a little research for Washu, and meet up with Sailor Mau -- as well as hop around the various planets like Chu, Mermaid, etc.

I like the idea, but I'm unsure if it would be good.

You have to be very careful about this, it could ruin the story if you handle it wrongly.
Fragmenting the storyline too much with a permanent clone would be bad. A Naruto-style temporary clone that would allow for memory transfer would be better.

BTW, I have forgotten, where in the Sailor Moon timeline is this story currently?

That is something I've pointed out to Usagi before. Hopefully she can pull of the doppelganger without screwing up. I have faith in her. Though it'd probably be best for her not to try it. ........ I dunno >.>

Yeah, that was actually my worry when I thought about doing the doppelganger to be left behind. I was worried that it would sound kind of 'meh'.

Although maybe if the doppelganger just stayed for about a few days before disappearing to merge back with Ranma...

It probably would be a good idea to have Ranma first ask Ryoko about it.

As for the Sailor Moon timeline, the Senshi, except for Hotaru, are three years younger than Ranma -- meaning they are eight going on nine. Hotaru is currently six years old, and it's about a year before the lab explosion happens.

Any chance of interaction between Ranma and the Inners--or better yet, Hotaru--before this thing is done?

Well, I did have Ranma interact a little with Usagi and Hotaru during her holiday break.

I've also been thinking about her interacting with a few more before her trip to Mau -- and maybe the use of a temporary doppelganger WHILE she's heading for Mau. Hotaru is a definite for Ranma to visit.

With Hotaru, Ranma gave her an enchanted galleon -- similar to the ones the DA use in the fifth book -- so that if she was ever in danger, she could use it to call Ranma.

What I've been thinking is that sometime during second year, Hotaru, her mother, Prof. Tomoe get caught in the lab explosion, and she calls for Ranma. Ranma is in the middle of a class, but quickly leaves -- but leaves Laira to take notes -- and quickly makes her way to Japan via flying and teleporting. She arrives and manages to save and heal Hotaru, but wasn't in time to save Hotaru's mother. The last thing Keiko asked was for her to protect Hotaru.

Ranma also slightly notices something happening to Prof. Tomoe, but the way he acted didn't seem any different. However, Ranma's suspicion kicks in and she tells him that if anything happens to Hotaru, she'll kick his ass through all nine dimensions of Hell.
