New class of Servant or he could be an Archer himself.

How many times must it be said that the last time someonw tried to summon a new class of Servant, BAD things happened. Specifically, the Grail was corrupted by Angra Maiyu. The classes of Servants were laid down when Zeltrech and his disciples first created the Grail Wars and can't be changed by someone without comparable levels of power. And considering Zeltrech weilds the True Magic Kaleidoscope and he's a Dead Apostle with a significant portion of TYPE-MOON's power... that ain't happening.

Sorry for being vague. What I meant was that instead of there being an Archer class the Artist class was the one chosen.

Actually, it wasn't the new class that did anything - and the Einzbern could create the Avenger class without much trouble. (Also, Zelretch had nothing to do with the War - the fact that the Tohsaka were his disciples was more of a side-thing)

The big problem was the fact that they were summoning evil itself. That's what corrupted the Grail.

I was under the impression that Zeltrech was the one who set everything up, pulling the combined efforts of the Matou, Tohsaka and Einzberns together.

(Though whatever his involvement, we can only be glad he was. Otherwise no Kalediostick and thus no Magical Ruby!)

Nope, he pretty much was just a teacher of the Tohsaka, I think a generation or two before the War ever even started. It was the Einzberns that really wanted it, and they brought Makiri and Tohsaka in.

Zelretch gets involved at random intervals for the hellofit, though, he's a whimsical guy like that.

His only semi-direct involvement in the War was that Rin had Shirou fake his sword to fight Sakura, and he came along to congratulate her on getting so far with the hints he'd left for the Tohsaka.

(Though whatever his involvement, we can only be glad he was. Otherwise no Kalediostick and thus no Magical Ruby!)
