Genre comedy / action / drama (like that's hard to imagine)
Basically a rewrite of the HP story with this twist
due to harry potter getting ahold of all three hallows he is a 'master' of death
farther down the road on his death bed he meets death and is engaged in a duel / game
Harry due to blind luck wins against death and as such is granted one request
Harry being the generous type wished for better things for his friends and such (actual wording being unimportant)
What death did was send a reaper (ala dead like me) back to watch over harry from about being 8 years old and improve his and his friends lives

able to show "true form" of cloaked skeleton with scythe which tends to scare most people
dead / ghosts will recognize them as a reaper
(also has general knowledge of harry's situation ie sirus's innocence etc)

Absolutely hates being effectively forced to follow harry around for the rest of his life. And since she can't screw with fate all of the deaths that happen in the books will happen when they were supposed and usually where they were supposed to. Course the cause of death can vary widely to the point of utter absurdity causing their death (ie rube goldberg type deaths)
Will generally bemoan fate, make bad jokes and 'false' predicitons of peoples deaths. Of the people only Trewlany (sp?) will actually recognize her as death. Dumbledore maybe due to his possession of the elder wand. also the invisible cape harry has can throw off her sense of him for a while which will cause her to celebrate for a bit... with the inevitable "Crap he's back... " and her wandering off to find him.
incredible genre savvy so to speak and will point out the incredible stupid things harry seems to do to the point of fourth wall breakage at how certain things rowling did with dumbledore are rather ill conceived. mostly intending to run events along their course. Mostly will just screw with things for kicks. Expect up to 2nd year to run according to plan. As for Sirius vs Peter. "Bah, Peter kills himself eventually anyway mostly due to harry here to boot."
not sure if Peter will / can redeem himself but hadn't thought how he could.

and finally due to the dice with death
Harry and extended family now have death's protection or more so they cannot die until their appointed time
(this includes Grangers, Weasleys and Sirius)
Sirius also being a more special case as to whether or not he actually died in the department of mysteries

Had a couple scenes in mind

"Had harry not looked out the window as he had been cleaning the living room he would of missed it. A lady seemed to fall from the sky and crash into the pavement leaving a spiderweb of cracks. She stood up shakily and shook her fist at the sky. Harry was able to make out her mouth moving but couldn't hear the words she was using. Suddenly a lightning bolt arc'd down striking the lady. Harry ducked at this and then carefully peeked back over the sill. She was now twitching on the ground.

Then she was standing upright as if she'd never been hit.

She lifted her hand to check something and Harry noticed she was holding a briefcase. He was fairly certain she hadn't been holding it seconds earlier. Then she turned her head towards him and he was fairly certain she'd seen him even through the curtains. As he ran to his cupboard he was sure he saw her start down the walk to the house."

"In the Prison of Akazaban (sp?) Sirius Black sat transformed into his animagus form to keep what little sanity he had left. Then seemingly out of the shadows walked this lady. She was almost a spring day compared to the horrible dementors. She was laughing. Why was she laughing?
"Y.. you're not on my list," and then she continued for a bit before composing herself.
She reached down and scratched his head. "Come on, i know a boy who needs a birthday present."

Sirius's mind turned to mush at her words. His mind latched onto what she had said. He was getting out of Akazaban. Smiling She turned and led him into the shadows. The world turned dark for a second then it began to lighten. She was now leading him down a street in a muggle neighborhood."

i can see this adding one more joke to it.

most of the time keeping looking like death, but just to screw with the cast taking on a human form here and there just to mess with everyone that just thinks the new girl in a human wizard or something. and when the fecil matter hit the rotoring device she just pulls out a book and starts reading with people yelling at her to do something. her telling them its not in her contract which she pulls out and starts reading the points of it .....

how about givving her a really woraped sence of humor...she quotes dougles addams books and other sci-fi stuff. and then complains about hogworts being so backwards with thier lack of tech....death with a laptop and a cell phone....with the phone call of her being forced here and there to stop what she is doing to collect a soul the is near by just because she is the closess agent to the scene.

annoying everyone with her taste in amirican heavy metal music.....
somehting about the idea of an amician death agent stuck in jolly old england....that would be funny with weird commnets about the brits.
this also could lead to one other thing, all the time she does not do anything to help them and the one time they know she wont she gets up walks over the voldermort and punches him with the commont he gets on her nerves with his voice something.

or just to really annoy people she has to deal with, random quotes about you might be a redneck at times before or after something happens. or they do soemthing stupid she hands them a sign with the comment "here's your sign"

"She was bored... soo bored. Harry had noticed that she was beginning to appear bored again. The last time that had happened George and Fred had started worshipping her. Granted when Dumbledore shows up with green hair and nobody but the students seem to notice.
Hermione had gone nigh frantic when she'd learned exactly what date she'd supposedly die.
Then there was Trewlany who had been getting more and more frazzled as each of her death predictions in the class was vetoed. "

"Harry's scar burned and he began to get flashes of voldemort shooting spell after spell at... Her! She was listing off his defects starting with bad hygiene and working her way down through sexual fetishes then finishing off with jibes about his questionable parentage. Harry winced as yet another killing curse seems to blow past her without effect. Then suddenly she was beside him and... Ouch. Harry made a note to try to find something interesting for her to do. Voldemort being taunted and nutsacked never ever meant anything good for him. Besides if voldemort knew what she actually was he'd probably be gibbering in terror by now. She had told him directly outright five times now and each time Voldemort hadn't believed her."

Meh, for one, I think by the point of the end of the books Harry wouldn't be making a wish like that, as he knows the dead prefer the afterlife, short of people with messed up souls like Voldemort.

But by the title, the idea is supposed to be a sort of Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy like fusionish thing perhaps. I'd recommend instead of it being Harry's wish, it comes about when Harry dies, and the 'reaper' assigned to Harry by Death as an 'oh shit' moment when they discover that Harry was supposed to be one of Death's favored, due to being descended from the 3rd Perevell brother, and they were supposed to keep an eye out for Harry, only for him to wind up with a really messed up life, sent to the Dursleys, manipulated towards eventual self-sacrifice or being turned into a martyr by Voldemort to destroy the accidental horcurx, as Dumbledore thought he had to die for Voldemort to be defeated, losing Sirius, outright becoming the master of death, then living a dull life compared to what he could have had under love potion towards Ginny until he finally self-sacrifices himself, taking the cloak, stone (which he'd searched for in the forest), and wand through the veil with him when he realized there was a new up and coming dark lord who wanted to kill him through cheap means and become master of death, and had killed and interrogated Ron and Hermione, in order to prevent anyone else from becoming master of death.

Death itself comes and reveals he's accepting back the Hallows, and because of the Reaper's mistake, they have to be sent back with Harry, neither get to remember the future, although Harry's 'soul' is a bit more evolved, which has some effects like he has an easier time learning to resist dementor auras, veela allure, imperius, compulsions, and learn occlumency and things like that, and an easier time learning spells like the patronus, basically magic that involves the soul that his soul has already 'learned' and he is more resistant to the horcurx scar. The reaper doesn't remember the future, but does have powerful mystical senses and a lot of knowledge of magic and existence focused around their reaper duties, including being able to sense horcurxes, and knows that they are stuck basically as Harry's companion and bodyguard. On top of this, the moment they are sent back to, Dumbledore loses the two hallows in his possession, they just disappear, along with the ring, the horcurx in which is destroyed. The reaper knows being Harry's companion and bodyguard of sorts is her punishment, but doesn't remember exactly what it was for so she has to remain wary, even though she hates the job. She also can't let the regular populace know about things like the afterlife and death, even the wizarding populace, although Harry and some of those close to him and trustworthy, or some of his enemies who wouldn't dare tell others like Voldemort can know her identity. The very first thing she does is remove the horcurx scar, and introduce herself to Harry, and reveal she is invisible to muggles, like the Dursleys, and that Harry is a wizard, and for some stupid reason Death likes him, and that she is a secret.

Harry's reaper could be a play off of some shinigami from Bleach, or perhaps Botan from YuYuHakushou, I kind of like the idea of the ferry girl at least in looks and carrying an oar, being his reaper. Harry's reaper would be able to destroy horcurxes, and sense them, but wouldn't be allowed to touch Voldemort himself, who is ultimately Harry's duty to defeat or die fighting. Unfortunately this time around Harry doesn't have the deus ex machina of the Hallows or the protection of being a horcurx, and will likely have to defeat Voldemort in a proper and fair duel to the death, while Voldemort has 50 odd years of experience on him in magical abilities, and Harry doesn't even have Voldemort's special powers this time around, like parseltongue and a hint of natural legimency. On the plus side, his reaper can advise him a bit in his magical training, block a lot of Dumbledore caused problems, and Harry doesn't have the mental and magical burdens caused by the cursed scar and connection to Voldemort, which were removed soon enough to avoid permanent damage that would have started building up as early as Harry's first year at Hogwarts. The reaper knows a lot about magic and the existence of the world and powers of different races and creatures, but very little about the wizarding world, and cares little about it as well, and in fact quickly grows to hate it given the rampant stupidity and lack of logic running around through it.

I'd recommend changing it this way, and not having 'fate' with set times for people to die, although Harry's reaper won't be going out of her way to protect anyone short of Harry, and even him she won't protect from Voldemort, in fact she likes it when people around Harry die as she gets to take brief brakes to escort them to the afterlife, although she can't try to cause deaths either, in fact she can't protect anyone's life except Harry's, unless it is by accident or she needs to do so to protect Harry's life. Harry would initially see her as something of a friend and protector, but later on see her as more of an annoying and heartless hanger-on and peanut gallery who is slightly useful, but not with important stuff like Voldemort himself. Dumbledore would be freaking out due to the missing hallows and on a crazy desperate hallow hunt and running into all sorts of weird situations and bad luck due to it, and his growing paranoia about who might have stolen the cloak and wand from him, as well as his frustration with Harry repeatedly slipping through his plans and manipulations. The reaper's primary job is to guide Harry to being worthy of the 'master of death' in a sense of self-mastery and magical power and skill, and prevent anyone from being Harry's 'master' in any way, making sure Harry remains independent, and besides that to keep anyone except Voldemort from killing him or causing him lasting injury.

However, with events changing from cannon, Harry starts getting into weirder and wackier hi jinx and silly situations and constantly having to maneuver out of ridiculous messes of the wizarding world he blunders into or people try to use against him, with limited help from the Reaper. It starts getting increasingly ridiculous revealing some of the odder aspects of the insane wizarding world, and Harry starting to realize that most wizards couldn't have a logical thought to save their life, and are bat shit insane.

as a note removing the Hallows especially the cloak ruins alot of the potential fun at hogwarts.
as for stone it was on the gaunt ring that dumbledore found.

Harry is facing Vodermort in battle and he stops and looks at harry....

"That women is behind me right?"

Nods his head yes.

"VOLDER-CHAN!!!!" is shouted as death does a flying glomp onto Vodermort and both fall to the floor.

"I hate my life..." thinks Voldermort as he fights his way free of the death glomp.

"This is very bad." thinks Voldermort as he remebers the last time he got taken over deaths knee and spanked for threating Harry.

sorry just the way this tread is looking for ideas these scenes came to mind of death veing in love with voldermort or just plain old she comes up with ways to get even with him for somethingh every time he does something to harry......ehehehehehehehehehhee
