Uncommon Crossovers.

For submitting and talking about story ideas. Idea submissions must be at least five paragraphs long, and include plot points, summaries of which characters are involved, and, for fanfiction, how it differs from canon. Both original and fanfiction ideas welcome. Though original works should have more development. Replying posts must give actual commentary, no "GREAT IDEA" or "THIS SUCKS".

crystlshake wrote:I think I may have seen something along those lines somewhere before. It would be easy to make them related since they are both Chinese and practice the same martial arts style. Although Hsien-Ko is a ghost I dont recal the conditions that made her and her sister one (the animated spell tag). You could have it be some side effect of the hidden weapons (dark art) style, or even a bloodline predisposition. Perhaps the blood line is what allows use of the style, practicing the style could make it more active by reinforcing the magic flows or something. Heck could even be tied to some demon pact or something that prevents them from passing into true death if you want a more angsty aproach.

Hsien-ko and her sister's condition is the result of a curse. When they were reborn at the end of the second Darkstalkers game, it vanished, but when Jedah rose to power, it reactivated, making me think it was inflicted by a demon.
Regarding the rest... originally, Mei-Ling, Hsien-Ko's sister, was older than Hsien-Ko, and it's never stated if she was married and with kids or not. She might have, or she might not. Hsien-Ko herself may well have had her own family... nothing in her profile confirms or denies it, it mereky states that they tried to save their mother from a curse and got cursed themselves, becoming Jiangshi. It could be developed any way you want.

I had actually been hoping that someone would write a Ranma/Fist of the North Star crossover, until I realized that you'd have to have incredible writing sense to credibly do FotNS It's-So-Cheesy-It's-Cool Manly Dialogue. (These will be the last tears I shall shed in my life!)
I'd also like to see a Ranma/(DC Comics/Marvel Comics) crossover where Ranma doesn't spontaneously gain the abilities of a comic series main character (Becoming blind and gaining a sixth sense, suddenly able to stick to walls and gaining incredible agility and strength, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, etc).

Ranma doesn't NEED to be a mutant to hang around with Marvel superheroes, for the most part. His fight with Saffron leveled most of a mountain... the majority of middle-tier Earth Superheroes in Marvel would be hard pressed to do that.
In fact, he could probably put up a hell of a fight against most of the X-men team, even though telepaths screw him over.
And BTW, I did see a Ranma/X-Men crossover... I think it was 'The Ultimate Antidote' on Mediaminer. His own mutant power in that was similar to Wolverine, yet different.

It's dead, unfortunately. No updates since 2004. Shame, it was good, IMHO.

It was updated in October 2005, that's around eight months, doesn't seem very dead to me.

Oops. Yeah, sorry. Slipped by one year.
Still, rumor has it the author has stopped caring about fics. Dunno how true it is, but...

Bjorn - Ranma doesn't need to gain the abilities you mentioned he already has them. sixth sense - can detect attacks before they happen, suddenly able to stick to walls - Ranma does this a lot during the manga, gaining incredible agility - Ranma's agility is already massive, strength - strong enough to bend steel and lift massive boulders, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound - ok he can't leap tall buildings in a single bound but he can leap small ones.
to keep this on topic:
I want to see a Ranma/Dirty Pair crossover. I have no idea how it could be done but I want to see it anyways.
Also some good Ranma/Lupin crossovers. That has lots of potential since Ranma is a thief (though all he steals is food), likes to wear disguises, and willing to use his girl side to get stuff. Ranma can do either Lupins or Fujiko's type of theft. Heres a potential story idea. Ranma needs to steal an object for some reason. Problem is Lupin wants the item as well. Both end up going after it at the same time. Lupin ends up with it and gets away. Ranma learns about Lupin from the internet or something. Ranma tries and use his curse to get Lupin to give the item to him. Ranma manages to get away with it. Lupin attempts to steal it back but Fujiko wants it too. Fujiko tries to use her usual methods to get close to a guy but it doesn't work with Ranma but does manage to piss off Shampoo, Uyko, and Koadachi. lots of stuff you can have happen like Lupin hitting on Shampoo, Ranma teaming up with Zenegata, etc...

Be nice. The original manga ended almost twenty years ago.
Oh, and there actually ARE some Ranma/Hokuto no Ken crossovers out there. Not very many, though, and they're pretty much all awful.
With one exception: Lu Dragonlord's story The Star of War. But even that story suffers from horrible grammar and spelling. And when I say horrible, I mean it. The words themselves aren't so bad off, but it was obviously written in another language first (Spanish or Portugese, I don't know which) and then translated without the help of a dictionary, and then thrown online without running through any kind of spelling or grammar-checking program. And it hasn't been updated in several years.
By the way, Fist of the North Star is technically, if I recall correctly, a mistranslated name. It should be Ken of the North Star. Ken as in Kenshiro, the protagonist.

Nah, the translation is correct. Hokuto no Ken. The kanji for fist is ken. Kenshiro's name was always written in katakana, so if, by some chance, the kanji for his name involved the one for fist, it's never made clear.

No, I really liked it. :P

I read it, but as you said, it hasn't been updated in a while.

Then you've read the sum total of all the decent cross efforts out there. The two series just aren't crossed that often, for a handful of very good reasons.

Personally, I'd like to see a Ranma ½/Onmyou Taisenki crossover.
I'll just go ahead and get the cliché and obvious out of the way:
"Houjou no Ranko! Kenzan!"
For those unfamiliar with the series, here's what the above means:
Ranko + Cat Fist + Plot Device = Cat-Girl Shikigami
I've only seen up to episode 48 of Onmyou Taisenki, but so far I think one Houjou is still left unaccounted for (Nene didn't count since she was just a dream).

Also some good Ranma/Lupin crossovers.

I remember one where Ranma was realy Fujiko's son. but had been raised by her sister Nodoka. Ranma finds out and meets his real mother and company, including Lupin and the Inspector. It's an old fic and I don't think is was finished. Will post link if I can find it.

You know, ranma/Futaba change crossovers are pretty rare, yet you'd think theyed be every where- unwilling transexuals, changing several times a day.
Come to think of it, I only remember two crossovers like that.
One was a depressing one, where Shampoo, Ukyo and Akane had a Feance's club, dedicated to making Ranma miserable then killing him. The Futaba bit was ranma's girlfriend, later on.
The other, by Trimatter i think, was where Ranma lives with the Futaba crew for a while, and grows up.
But a pretty small number, huh?
