Uncommon Crossovers.

Much as I hate to go digging up anything buried on the first page, I've actually got an idea for a workable R 1/2--Highlander cross; the problem here isn't that no matchup works, but that people are so focused on Ranma (which at a Fukufic site isn't surprising, but that's at the moment neither here nor there)

Ranma's a lot of things, but Immortal doesn't seem one of them...he's just too spammed tough to die in the first place, and remember, it takes that to become Immortal. On the other hand, Akane's not only proven mortal, but remember how things go while she's in her doll-form during the final battle with Saffron--her eyes close, and indeed it's a shock that she revives once returned to normal.

What if that wasn't the first time she'd been taken to the point of death? Until the entire site was flooded out, there existed a Spring of Akane--and remember, the other springs were always referred to as "Spring of Drown x-and-such". Considering that Immortals become such after a violent death, what if Akane's immersion really was long enough to kill her? I know it shifts the main character something awful, but it also returns the power-level to a point where the Immortals have a chance.

What I'm picturing is that, after the failed wedding, Akane is beating up her Ranma dummy when suddenly she's struck by a terrible headache (the first time she's really felt less than perfect in the last several weeks). This, we later learn, was caused by Nick Wolfe walking nearby, and eventually he pinpoints this new Immortal, confronts her, and explains to her just what she's involved in.

Of course, to me, it's mainly a Highlander cross with a little Ranma involvement, but perhaps Akane can keep some of her ties to Nerima (though not to Ranma-as-fiance...this storyline pretty much blows that to smithereens)--mainly through finally learning the Art (since she's now too--resilient--for Ranma to have to worry about perma-killing her). Major later romantic triangle: Nick/Akane/Amanda (I can't believe he'd never go back to her, and as for Nick to Amanda, I think she's the only man she's ever really fallen for--even Duncan). Akane learns to wield a sword to keep her head, other Immortals learn really cool ki tricks so that we don't have the same problem we had with Ranma-as-an-Immortal, and basically, good old-fashioned action-comedy ensues.

I put this idea out to anyone, since even my specialty of dialogue has currently deserted me, and even in good times, I couldn't plot a Webcomic, let alone a full-on fanfic...[/quote]

I've actually had many ideas that I put/started to put into story over these years. Although few I ended up deleting because they were managed cruddily back then. I still get a bunch of ideas and all.

Ranma/Pokemon crossover that does NOT involve Ranma becoming a pokemon trainer.

Ranma/Digimon: Ranma gets thrown into digimon universe as a new digimon long before the digidestins (season 1) appear

Ranma/Sonic: Ranma gets reborn as either a twin sibling to sonic, or an older sibling to tails/geoffry

Ranma/Sailor Moon: Ranma gets tossed into the future and is reborn (Yeah, I have a thing for him being reborn) as the son of Neo Queen Serenity and twin brother of Chibi-usa. He gains his curse again, and is accidently sent by Setsuna to the past where nobody knows where he went. At least until the events of when Chibi-usa first goes into the past.

Ranma/Cybersix: Dr. Von Reichter is traveling in Japan and finds an interest in Ranma. While Ranma , Akane, and P-chan are in the park, Reichter strikes by injecting a syrum into Ranma, shooting Akane (Because she was a witness), and kidnapping the black haired boy. When he comes to later, he finds that he's now just a baby (Still with the curse, but could control it.) Reichter proceeds to do several experimentations that rob Ranma of his memories, and the 'substance' that Ranma would require isn't for sustaining his/her life, but from keeping him/her under the control. If Ranma doesn't drink it, his/her body will be racked with unimaginable pain, and believes he/she would die if didn't drink it.

Ranma/Codename Kids Next Door: Professor Triple X-tra Large creates a transdeminsional gateway, but finds that whenever he goes through, he becomes a kid on the other side. Ranma ends up getting thrown into it and appearing in the world of KND. With the portal busted, a child Ranma now has to survive in a world that's even weirder than he's used to.

I've seen a Highlander cross where Akane is the one who becomes immortal. No idea what the name/author was, though.
(though it was a simple "she died because of X", not because of drowning)

Ranma/No One Lives Forever. After reading a couple of Ranma/007 stories, why not use NOLF that is a parody of agent flicks etc already on its own. A potential way to join the universes would be to use Isako (the ninja in NOLF2). Like Armstrong was a villain in NOLF1 and an ally in NOLF2, Isako might show up with Ranma to help UNITY after Cate asks her. How Isako and Ranma meet without going into clichéd ways, I haven't thought out. Of course, Cate might already be too old for field operative, and this further limits the cast one can import from NOLFverse.

If HARM is to be the baddie organization again, then the first (and unfortunately too obvious and previously used) kind of weapon (mancrates and the super soldiers in NOLF2, the burping bombs in NOLF1) would be Chi-merries (think Taro with ki attacks).

(Yeah, I like Monolith's games too much... and I don't like Austin Powers at all.)
