I always like it when the home is in Jubaan. It gives some separation from the Tendo's and Nerima nonsense. And it helps give a reason why Nodoka didn't end up involved in other things involving the Tendos. After all if she were in Nerima she would have at least heard about the death of his wife and it might have been enough to get her to remember Tendo was Genma's training partners name. etc etc.

Another question. With Ranko at home what will Nodoka do for work? Playing money markets? Photography? Many things have been done before even assaying antiquities but what would you like to have your Nodoka doing to support things and attempt to build up finances to use as a bulwark against Genma's training debtors?

Didn't think about Nodoka's job. Since she's somewhat of a traditionalist (except for some of her creepier ideas) how about having her as the owner of a famous tea house? Or the owner of the Crown Arcade (well Ranma is is one fic)?

The owner of a geisha house would be an interesting idea too. Might even be the origin of her fixation on manliness.

What if she's manager at a Kabuki theater that her family runs and she's so fixated on Manliness because she has way too much of She-Males being annoying on her payroll?

Edit: The reason I suggest Kabuki is because some of the less popular theaters can't afford artists that can pull off both gender roles only males acting female and can't pull off anything better than the affectation of a Butch Dyke even though they really are male. It could work at least in my imagination.

I have had some more ideas. Well, I borrowed one from Chibi-Reaper's Lord Ranma.

Somehow Happosai gets sent with Ranma into the past nd immediately makes a nuisance of himself by groping every girl in vicinity, the senshi and Queen Serenity as well. Positive that he's a youma she seals him away with Beryl and the other generals. In the end he'll end up as another dark general.

I think this idea is interesting since it will add someting more to the orignal story. And The Dark Kingdom will need the additional firepower since the senshi got an addition of their own.

The other idea I got from the Ranma forums here where it is stated that the wife of a samaurai needed to be able to protect herself.

In this story Nodoka knows how to use a katana well enough to defend herself (but not much more) since every Saotome woman has to learn the art of the sword before she truly belongs to the clan. And of course so will Ranko. But Ranko is the same as Ranma when it comes to mastering a new martial art, she won't quit until she's the best there is. And I'd really like to see her trounce Kuno in a Kendo tournament.

Somehow I don't think Ranma would need any additional training to trounce Kuno in Kendo. It's not like the competitions would demand strict forms after all.

You'll have to remember that this is Ranko, not Ranma who went on the training trip Genma. I thought it would be interesting for her to specialize in another martial art than Ranma does... until the memories return of course.

Sorry with the month gap I kinda slipped on the thread premise. I still don't think it would take much training. I could easily imagine Ranko besting Kuno at all competitions through their entire lives growing up making it so he calls himself the Rising Male Star trying to catch his Kendo Goddess.

That's one of the reasons I'd like for them to meet earlier on. What a surprise for Kuno when he sees female Ranma at school

Could there be any Saotome Family weapons style scrolls that Nodoka maybe in keeping of. Say some things the family entrusted to her since Genma took up with Happosai and might as easily destroy them due to the perverted trolls teachings obvious disdain for armed fighting?

Maybe, but something original then. There are more than enough fics where Nodoka is either a descendant of Kenshin Himura, Kaoru Kamiya or Yosho.

I was thinking more like collected styles of the Clan. After all the Saotome's had to be more formidable than Genma appears to be to have earned that Honor Blade in the first place.
