Ranma/Gantz Fusion w/ sm & other possibles

Well first off this is my first idea I'm looking to improve and I'm looking to improve it. If you decide to use it all I ask for is a little credit with my name maybe just one little line . In any case this ideal is very open ended with lots of hooks and modifications since I know authors like to be given options ^^, so it can be either dark or more light ended.
Ok the opening of this fic is that Ranma is protecting Akane from a thug with a gun. In the end he(she) dies when Akane tries something foolhardy (i.e. angering the gunman). Now it’s up to the writer if Ranma still lives at this point. In one Ranma is completely dead in the other one side of Ranma dies. Gantz either way will transport Ranma to the Apartment.
In gantz it starts Canon with the same monsters and people except for the starting main characters are replaced by (Ranma, Ami Mizuno in my cross idea, and possibly Ryouga).
In any case the main difference with this Ami Mizuno is it uses the Cameo appearance from The Dark Side of Life basically a down on the rocks apparently drug using Ami. My reason for it is it serves as a transition phase for Ranma later. Any case she's a pot head and it’s due to what happen. (Takes place after SM) after the senshi defeat the final enemy the group basically splits up.
This is due to there being no final threats to Crystal Tokyo and it not happening for awhile. So off the rest go do there things (such as Usagi going with Mamoru to America, Minako goes to be an actress, etc). The only one that stays around with Ami is Makoto (up to you if they were lovers or friends) and eventually even she leaves (whether it’s from fights, not working out, or just pursuing something). This leads to Ami's depression and with being an outcast at college she turns to drugs. Eventually she is beat and raped till finally killed.
When Gantz brings the people back. It follows similarly that Ami is about to be raped. Ranma of course seeing this acts on it and saves her. This leads Ami to feel indebted. When Gantz issue the suits he doesn't take it since it doesn't look manly. Gantz transports them and it takes place pretty much canon.
When Ranma realizes that these Aliens are killing people (even if not very morally good people) he finally stops them. In the end only the main characters are left with Ami almost dying, but barely makes it past. This plot point is to change Ranma's character radically.
When Ranma and Co. are back Ami in gratitude offers him a place to live, but he declines saying that he has to get back home. Here is where it’s tough for me on how to proceed. The goal is that he basically forced out of the Nerima prefecture (anywhere from being an imposter, to a Ranma already their male or female) and eventually stumbles upon Ami and catches her trying to get high.
Ranma here serves as an anchor for Ami (who by the way the addiction is gone considering Gantz gives you a second life). Vice Versa Ami serves as an Anchor for Ranma since she looks like an Akane, but is much nicer. A relation here could develop or she could just serve as a good friend that tutors Ranma.
Continuing story line it continues with more Gantz mission etc. At this point it’s open ended and if you felt inclined you could even start to bring back in SM, etc with maybe even Gantz serving as the enemy this time or something.
*A little note is that at some point during the first arc you have to make sure for Ranma & co. to find out about the explosive device in there head since I doubt you would want them to die by trying to tell friends & family .
Obviously this ideal isn't completely fleshed out and I probably with my meager writing talents couldn't bring it to its full potential. However I would be glad if someone took interest to make it into a great fic . If not at least it might help spark off some more ideals or something similar ^^

Hmm, while I haven't read any of the Gantz manga, I did check out its wikipedia page so I would have an idea about what you were talking about. I think this idea might be quite good. Try putting a teaser up in the C&C section.
A couple of thoughts. Ranma would quickly earn points like crazy by refusing the suit. On a related note, would Ami think to use her Sailor Powers (If she could) once it was revealed that any information given out about the game to the outside would result in immediate death? I do think that the power up a Senshi form provides would probably be as good (or better) as the suit and guns (though that is PURE speculation). Again that would allow her the ability to rack up points quickly, should you need to plot wise.

Well first of all I'm probably not going to write it myself at least not for a long time (can't say my writing is to entertaining unless I'm using sarcasm and wit and that doesn't work ^^).
Second you’re right if Ami or Ranma did go suitless it would be a lot of points at least if the rumors are right on that. However you have to remember a couple things or at least read them. First of all these Aliens we don't know much about and second is that there could very well be different weaknesses. For example one can be physically strong, or strong against specific energy types (ki, magic, etc.). The other thing to note is Gantz almost seems to make up rules and restrictions as it goes along. For example whenever Gantz made it where Kei had to have 15 points otherwise he would be killed.
And part of my idea is that Ranma after the first gantz battle would wear a suit. Since this isn't a game (ironic I know) and he needs every advantage he could get suit wise. Of course to balance this out is that Gantz sets the enemies difficulty level usually based on the overall team skill levels so when Ranma is suited up the enemies are much more difficult etc

Personally I don't like that ami's raped and I find that Ami slide into depression and drug use and her rise from the proverbial gutter would be more interesting than the Gantz stuff.
I also wouldn't use a gun to kill Ranma since they are extremely hard to get a hold of in Japan and Ranma is probably fast enough to take the gun before the regular human even fires since Ranma can cross a dozen feet in the time it takes Kuno to blink. If I were you, I'd make it a training accident like Ranma decides to try and duplicate Herbs ki blades and screws up the blades come back and cuts his neck some (One of Ranma's first Shishihadokens turned around and came back knocking Ranma backwards). You can still have Ranma survive though the ki blade could have just nicked him and he's taken to a hospital fast enough to prevent massive damage with Gantz just thinking he was dead like it did to Kishomoto. Or Ranma falls a massive distance like he does in the manga several times but the Gantz thinks he's dead since no one should be able to survive a fall like that.

I don't like Ami getting raped either, but it does serve a purpose to tie in with Ranma along with as trying to stay in with the Mood of gantz .
Ranma dying by the gunman was to me the best way to get him to die at the time. Your right though Ranma probably could have dodge the bullet or stop him. However that's only when Ranma is aware of it, and in this one he would have been startled and of course the gunman if he shot at Akane, Ranma just would have reacted.

Also, (at least in fannon) Ami might be smart enough to figure out lots of exploitable loopholes around Gantz. For ex. the web site mentioned on wikipedia. She might even be smart enough to figure out how to understand, neutralize, and escape from Gantz completely.
So, here's a thought. Ami figures out that Gantz is blocked from watching / recording for some tiny subset of their missions. Perhaps when facing a particular type of alien who can jam Gantz somehow, as an example, or something else risky.
So, using these fleeting, and also very dangerous times, she plots with Ranma to obtain their freedom. Thus, they can only talk freely in the midst of a battle or other tense time, and thus need to go on missions in order to talk, but yet that's why they face the highest risk of being killed ... tension abounds.

I don't agree with Ranma dodging _bullets_ personally. He doesn't show that kind of acceleration, perception, and reaction capabilities. Not getting hit by low lifes who can barely hit anything at 5 meters to begin with, or maybe avoid their attempts to point it sure, but not the bullet itself no.
To be honest I don't really see why you're using Ranma here. We're talking a guy with an underdeveloped backbone that has dressed in provacative female clothing and went through stupid stuff because of slights to her pride, and has been intimidated by Soun into similar who he should by all rights be able to neutralize easily enough. Not exactly the poster child for pulling a Sheridan. Not to mention Ranma 1/2 not being an ultraviolent series, and having almost everything stuck in a nonlethal setting doesn't help. Sure you could upgrade his attacks to Bram Gush and Dil Brando Slayers novels standard, but that'd be giving him a powerup for the fun of it and rationale for Ranma to get 1/2 or 1/4 points or similar.
Sho Fukamachi (Guyver, TV Series), your pick of the ARMS boys, Sagura Sosuke (FMP), Ominae Yu (Spriggan), Alita (Battle Angel Alita), Lucy (Elfen Lied), or the guy from Area 88 seem to fit the bill better, and almost all would have their reasons to not bend lightly to the thing but might be motivated to cooperate. You could even integrate all of them except the ARMS boys or Ominae as their backgrounds clashes to much with the Guyver universe background to allow easy integration, although it can still be done by fudging a few things.
If you insist on using Ranma I'm sure there's several ways to kill him with junk around the house put together properly, but I doubt the fan base would put up with such. Thus I propose you have Akane in indignant rant mode, with Ranma following, wander into a building scheduled for demolition. Ranma being to focused on Akane fails to see the signs, and Akane is well Akane. Things don't click until a few seconds after the charges go off and it's already to late to avoid being squished by several metric tons of concrete as the building collapses level by level in a uniform manner. What do you think antimatter, is that an acceptable death?
