Ranma/World of Warcraft/.Hack/SIGN

This occoured to me after I made the misteak of playing WOW after I watched the third DVD of .hack/sign.
This would be after the manga of Ranma. Everything is peacefull (by nerima standerds), and the feiancee situation is still up in the air.
Akane has found a new hobby- she plays World of Warcraft. As a priest, she playes often, has hit lvl 50, and uses it to take out her frustration at being the worst martial artist in Nerima.
One day, Ryoga comes into her room, and finds Akane unconcous at her computer desk. He panics, and takes Akane to the hospital. At the hospital, it is found that she has no higher level brain funcations, and stays in the coma.
Ranma notices that 99% of Akane's chi is missing, and decides that she's stuck in the game. He creates a charecter, and starts searching for Akane.
Along the way, he makes friends in WOW. Charecters played by Ryoga (though neither knows that the other is playing), Nabiki (who came to the same conclusion as Ranma), Ami Mizino (a mage who specializes in frost magic), Mechazawa (Cromatie High), and a selection of the .hack/sign crew- Bear, ad Crim.
The plot at this point would be similar to .hack. Akane, lost and stuck in the world, convinced she was a (perverted) guy. Nabiki would take the part of Sora, Ryoga the part of BT. Bear would be a mentor figure for Ranma, and Ami would be like Tsubraru minus the romance with Akane. Crim would watch over her Ami. Mechazawa would take the part of Mimiru.

Ryoga-LT-Warlock-f (for those of you who know why BT uses that name in .hack, think about wether or not Ryoga would like to eat bacon!)

This would be a comedy for the most part. Akane, unlike the .hack tsucasa, would be a raging pervert. She'd be lusting over Ranma, who would be thinking that Akane rememberd that she was a girl, and knew that Ranma was a guy.
Nabiki would play just like Sora, but Ranma wouldnt know who she was. She, on the other hand, would know who Ranma was.
Ryoga would be completly unaware of who Ranma and Nabiki and Akane were, and would just treat it as a game.
Ami would be a lot like Lady Tsubaru, but would be a strong mage, able to look after herself.
Mechazawa would play just like Mimiru, and have an ongoing subplot of having people trying to buy him when he went into a computer shop to buy gamecards.
Bear and Crim would be completly unchanged from how they were in the Anime.
The World (from the .hack anime) would never have existed in this world, and everyone would play WOW instead.

This sounds like fun and I'd read it for Mechazawa alone (even better if the rest of the Cromartie crew would make an appearance).
But seriously, the idea is interesting but the story will be very difficult to write I think. But the chaos potential would be almost limitless.
Oh well, time to go back to WOW and my Forsaken Rogue. see ya.

A couple of questions and some spoilers for .hack//SIGN
One: Why is Akane playing a priest to work of frustration? Given her temperment a close-combat clase like a Paladin or Warrior would seem to fit better, esepcially if she's trying to work of her anger. And if you're trying to keep the Tsukasa connection 'The World's' Wavemasters tend to operate like Mages as well as Priests and the sheer joy of blowing stuff up would seem to fit how you're describing Akane's mood better.
Two: Why did Akane fall into the coma? Aura and Morgana were intimately linked with 'The World,' mainly becuase it was, for all intents and purposes, created single handedly. Would you stick something similar into WoW and how would you explain it.
Three: You're casting Nabiki in the same role as the brat?(Highlight to read spoiler)You do know that Sora's player was only about ten years old don't you?
Also a couple of spelling mistakes. 'Tsucasa' is supposed to be Tsukasa and Ami's family name is Mizuno not Mizino

Yup, I know how old he was. But turning on your allies? That sounds like nabs to me.

Yup Yup. After all, in all honesty, the Aura/Moragna thing didnt make much sence in .hack. It wouldnt be any more idiotic to have it in WOW.

Now that's a good point. I can see her being a Druid instead- she always wanted to be the best at everything.
As more thoughts- Silver Knight could be that geeky kid that hangs out with Naru in Sailor Moon.
Bear would, in real life, be Tenchi's perverted father. In the game, he always be pretending to be nice, while ogoling all the female charecters.
Crim would be Lava (Vampire Princess Myio)! That protective streak of his is pretty big, and he needs something to keep himself occupied while she's at school
Helba would be a supergenus- Gina, from Gold Diggers!

There are a few plot points that should be aligned better, why would Akane be male? Tsukasa was male in game as an escapeism (it also helped that she was a lesbian to help the plot allow her to hook up with Subaru). Thus if you want a Male Akane character you need to give good reason.
Second... be very... very... careful messing with the old characters from .hack// some of your choices make sense, but I think it would be better to just drop the names entirely, different game, different people.

Third... make sure you have a Plot for why Akane was trapped, there was a specific one why Tsukasa was chosen... sub-consciously she didn't want to log out, she hated the real world and her abusive father. As such Tsukasa was traped in the game in part by 'his' own sub-conscious as was setup by Moragna to keep Aura from waking up and consuming her. as long as Tsukasa remained loged in Aura would sleep. My point here is there was a reason, one that fit 'The World.'
Fourth - remember that dot hack was all about character devolopment, something that rarely happened in Ranma, plus much went unsaid, so much so that you need to watch several times to see everything. which you probably already know. so you must decide what writing style to use, unlike Ranma/SM crosses where the style for both is essentially the same
my opinions:
- Ryoga should be a mage with a glitched 'blink' *cough* 'port *cough* (if you play WoW you know what I mean)
- if you want to enhance a SM plot line and make it logical for what happened to Akane... the solution is simple... someone is stealing something from people (sailor moon type enemy) and using WoW to do it. You can keep Ami as a character and have her running her own investigation on the matter.

There's always room for improvement, dude, and the care you put into your spelling and grammar are proportional to how seriously people will take your writing.

I second P.H. Wise's comment, and you don't even have to be a good speller in the first place. A little effort will reap rewards.
OpenOffice is free, and includes a spell-checker. You can write your story in the word processor part of the suite, spell-check it, and then copy/paste to your email or to a forum post. A few minutes research at Merriam-Webster will help with words that have more than one possible spelling.
If you can get your hands on a copy of Microsoft Word, that program not only spell-checks on the fly, it can also suggest grammar fixes as you write. It's not perfect and makes mistakes that a person who knows spelling and grammar wouldn't make, but it's much better than going it alone.

Microsoft Word is amazingly useful for common errors and such, but does make several grammar corrections that you may not wish or think true....still...several members here could do with an addition.
Also, for WoW, for pure semantics, will Burning Crusade be involved?
I ask due not only to the new monsters and levels, etc....
But the plot of Burning Crusade does change the plot of WoW from Horde vs. Alliance to Horde vs Alliance vs The Liches......and if you're going about this in anything akin to .Hack, plot is a _neccesity_.
Also, for WoW, would Akane play as a Horde or Alliance?
It would be a huge detriment, though kind of funny in a cosmic sense, if Ranma chose the opposite side, and had a _much_ harder time finding Akane. But it would improve his WoW skills at a much faster clip with PvP and all..

Why do what everyone does, and have Ranma=Da bomb?
Since EVERYONE else would be playing an existing account, and Ranma would be a noob, he'd be on the wrong end of the food chain for the whole story.
As for Horde or Alliance? I'd just stick everyone in Alliance. Break up the serious story by having them fight in the PVP sections.
As for Burning Crusade? I'm off to University in a coupple of weeks- I can't spare the money.

Because WOW is a game that almost everyone knows, and one with all sorts of riduclas situations that can be exploited. Why create when you can playgrise?
