HP/Naruto/Ranma crossover reincarnation net

This idea was inspired by the Naruto/Harry Potter crossover 'Reclaiming Life' by Sangelide:

It isn't so much of my own idea, but more of a fic challenge, or something like that. The basis of it is 3 characters get reincarnated in another world, and get their memories back at some point in the new world, from the previous one, and the changes that happen because of this.

The characters that are the same soul are:

Ranma=Hermione=Sakura
Mousse=Harry=Sasuke
Ryoga=Ron=Naruto

The points of memory return in dreams in each world are:

HP: After the troll incident in 1st year and before Norbert hatches.
Naruto: After Naruto gets his headband from Iruka and before the wave country mission.
Ranma: Instantly as Jyuusenkyo curses are received.

The points of 'death' from the originating worlds are:

HP: During the 5th year Department of Mysteries fiasco, killed by DE's when the prophesy is destroyed, before the Order of the Phoenix arrives.
Naruto: Sasuke is killed by Orochimaru after the time-skip when he first encounters Orochimaru's true form, Naruto and Sakura are killed in the battle against Akatsuki where Naruto unveils the Fuuton: Rasengan.
Ranma: During the Saffron arc, Ranma is killed by grabbing the Kinjakan, without anyone able to defeat Saffron to rescue him by using the dragon tap and Mousse and Ryoga are killed battling Saffron without Ranma's help.

A few specific things I'd like to have, but aren't neccesary, to make things run a little more smoothly:

Energy types Magic (HP), Ki/Magic (Ranma), and Chakra (Naruto) are independant to their worlds, Ranma's special moves don't work in Naruto's world and visa versa, although there are similar techniques. Abilities that would translate are fighting experience, mental experience and focusing skills from learning techniques/spells, mental protection/organization type skills, martial arts (although pressure point/shiatsu/moxibition/accupunture based techniques based on energy paths rather than the physical body will work differently in Naruto and Ranma, and not function in HP's world, because the energy systems are different), and to a point, technology and physics (the physics work slightly differently in Ranma's world, which for the point of this story I'd be considering to be a slightly higher gravity world). The mythologies, at least the Japanese based ones, are similar between the worlds, and ninjas and martial artists have similar skill sets, although the way the skills are performed and the energy used is different, as is the training behind it.

Alternatively, all three worlds could have these energy types:

Magic = Reiatsu (spirit energy) + Chi (Environmental energy) using a special 'magic core' where these energies are mixed, located around the heart
Chakra = Reiatsu + Ki (physical energy) with a possible addition for elemental manipulation techniques of Chi

Neko-ken, killing intent, spirit ward use, and ability to see ghosts and spirits are reiatsu based.
Moukou Takabisha, Shishi Houkoudan, battle auras, 'pure stamina', bakusai tenketsu, are ki based.
Soul of Ice, Elemental manipulation, hand seal use, and Harry Potter magic are magic based, as is Jyuusenkyo and most of the magic in Ranma, and some of the sealing arts and stuff in Naruto.

Also, for the purposes of crossovers using the Ranma set of characters, either reincarnating others in the Ranma world, or reincarnating Ranma in another world, Ranma was born a girl, one named Saotome (insert name here, ex. Reiko, could still be Ranma as it's a gender neutral name) but Genma and Nodoka used a potion soon after birth to change their child to a straight, and handsome boy, Ranma's Jusenkyo curse merged with the potion magic, so curing one, cures the other, and Ranma's 'cursed form is actually her true form, with the limited levels of mind control released. In fics where Ranma is reborn in another world Nabiki had found this out from records after Nodoka and Ranma reconcile and from questioning Nodoka and Genma and told Ranma some time before the Saffron arc.

Ranma/Sakura/Hermione takes the genius position in all fics, she has also learned some form of mind arts from the past life, for Ranma, she mastered the neko-ken before the Saffron arc, using special mental organization skills and meditations in order to overcome the fear and merge with the neko-ken, for Sakura, she learned to organize her mind and merge with inner-Sakura and how to defend against mental intrusions from Ino during the time-skip, and for Hermione, she started learning occlumency on her own when she heard about it from Harry, doing her own research and planning on teaching Harry once she was confident with her occlumency skills herself, but hadn't told him about studying it. This allows for Ranma's world for her to master the neko-ken early, soon after getting the the past memories back, and to find the memories of her early life and that she'd been born a girl. For the Narutoverse it allows her to master inner-Sakura early and gain her confidence and agression and full mental abilities early, teach it to Naruto to allow him to control his mindscape and the Kyuubi earlier, and to help Sasuke reverse and block the mental effects of the cursed seal and control the cursed seal better even before they get out of the forest of death and Kakashi gives him the suppression seal, as well as to master his sharingan faster. For the HP universe it allows her to teach the other two to defend against Quirrellmort, Snape and Dumbledore's legimency use early after she tutors them in it. Teaching it to the others also helps them cope better with their memories from their past lives.

Hermione carries over cat traits left by her 2nd year polyjuice disaster, Ranma from the neko-ken, so Hermione masters the neko-ken easier than Sakura would, and a Ranma reincarnated as Hermione would have a cat animagus form. Sakura reincarnated as Hermione would probably lack the cat aspect and depending on the plot might not make the polyjuice mistake, and so she might have a different animagus form, although she'd probably avoid use of the ability if she became a slug... Anyone reincarnated as Ranma would create a slightly more mature and serious Ranma, with less of a foot-in-mouth problem, and would be a lot more serious about education and book learning. Anyone reincarnated as Sakura would give Sakura more confidence, a Hermione version would likely be more serious about using brainy, chakra control heavy jutsu and a little more serious about studying and training over battle, as well as a bit nicer and less shallow, a Ranma version would be much more serious about physical training and taking advantage of Sakura's natural strength and chakra control, and her initial height advantage over her team-mates, and become much more competitive and devoted to self improvement, and the romantic tension dynamics with Sasuke would undoubtably change. For Hermione, the Ranma version would cause her to focus on dueling and martial arts a bit, as well as more fighting practical uses of magic, and would make her more confident and less rule-bound, and more interested in learning new magic than in researching about the magical world, and the Sakura version would probably make her wand to learn healing magic and be less concerned with physical fighting skills, probably just going through the motions of getting in shape and learning dueling, but focus more on getting exacting control of her spells, rather than having a huge repitour of them.

Harry/Sasuke/Mousse is the character that varies the most depending on whose memories who gains. It could make him more likely to stay with the others, or more likely to not get along so well, especially when someone gets Sasuke or Mousse's memories. Each of them has to cope with some pretty heavy burdens, Harry's horrible childhood and Boy-Who-Lived stuff and cursed scar stuff, and general bad luck, Sasuke's getting his clan slaughtered and being targetted by Orochimaru, and Mousse's constant rejections from Shampoo and defeats from Ranma and his horrible vision, as well as his Jyuusenkyo curse. Harry's parselmouth talent carrying over to Narutoverse might be an interesting plot device in order to make Orochimaru even more interested in him, but slightly disabled against him, unable to get his snake summons to fight Harry-Sasuke.

Naruto/Ron/Ryoga is a more serious character with the crossover element added. Ryoga's directional sense, pig curse, and seeingly demonic heritage of some sort (probably part oni, due to his strength and fangs), not to mention his chronic depression and regular defeats by Ranma. Ron's family life and expereinces with Harry and Hermione at Hogwarts helped ground him a bit. Naruto has allready undergone the time skip and getting to Kyuubi 4 tailed mode twice. There is the slight possibility of Naruto's reincarnation in the other world still carrying the Kyuubi bound to his soul, which only becomes apparant when he re-gains his memories, although Kyuubi and his link with him might have changed during the re-birth, and and for Ryoga reincarnations, he may have also carried over a bit of demonic heritage, in the case of Naruto, probably making it easier for him to use the Kyuubi's chakra safely and having more exagerated of his abilities.

Even more challening than bringing sets across, might be bringing combinations, or bringing back people to be re-born in their own world in their younger selves. Harry, Ranma, and Naruto are probably the best candidates for being brought back to their past selves and for being brought together, while the other two would probably come from different worlds, so you might end up with in HP a team of foreknowledge possessing Harry, Naruto-Ron, and Ranma-Hermione. For Ranma it would be a foreknowledge possessing Ranma, Naruto-Ryoga, and Harry-Mousse. And for Narutoverse it would be a foreknowledge possessing Naruto, Sakura-Ranma, and Harry-Sasuke. Other variations are possible, but I'm not sure how well they'd go over.

It might also be possible to throw in more different series for more reincarnation crossovers:

From Bleach:
Orihime, Ichigo, and Uryuu

From Stargate SG1:
Sam, Jack, and Daniel

From Smallville:
Lana (with witch memories too), Clark, and Lex

From Yu-Gi-Oh:
Anzu, Joey, Yugi

From House M.D.:
Cuddy, House, Wilson

From Pokemon:
Misty, Ash, Brock

That's all I have for this brainstorm at this point. Suggestions for refinement/improvement and your own creations from this idea set are highly welcome.

Despite the length of your outline, I don't think this idea is actually thought through very well. Not to the standards of the fic you got it from, at least.

Quite simply, while the basic types of the trio members in both Naruto and HP match nicely (as shown to rather spectacular effect in the fic you linked), there really aren't any good character matches in the Ranma cast. Certainly, the ones you chose are mindboggling - Ranma seems to have been chosen for the Sakura/Hermione spot just because he turns into a girl, and Mousse for the HP slot because he has glasses.

Ranma himself would be much more suited in Naruto/Ron's role, as they have many more traits in common. They're all very tactical, and both Naruto and Ranma learn combat skills very fast and most other things very slowly due to lack of interest. They're also all big eaters...

There's no real "research girl" in the Ranma cast - none of them is touted as the smartest in her age group. Akane does her schoolwork and has the idealism and righteousness of Sakura and Hermione, but not their super intelligence; Nabiki may be really smart but is completely selfish, at odds with the other two characters; and the others aren't even close.

And for the role of the broody kid, pretty much only Ryoga fits, and badly at that - even Sasuke doesn't go *berserk* like him, not without the curse seal.

That, and the mood of Naruto and HP are much more similar than Ranma and either of the other two...
