You know, I can't say what surprises me more; that no one has told me this idea is insane, or that everyone who's been here knows who Count Duckula is.

...No, wait, it's everyone knowing Duckula. Speaking of which, I don't know torrents, but I think you can find at least some of the episodes on Youtube. I saw at least two (episodes 2 & 17) in the 'related videos' sidebar for the opening theme (which is linked from the Western Animation TV segment of Nightmare Fuel at TV Tropes).

I found a torrent, but it is from a Swedish VHS. That's almost as bad as YouTube. Not very fond of the video quality on YouTube, though they do have some great things like a complete series of educational videos on making flint tools.

Now, to get back on topic... I apparently have a workable base for a story. Now what do I need to do before it's ready to be written?

I find the basic concept interesting, and of course, Count Duckula was truly an awesomely silly show.

I do agree that it would be an interesting plot device for a fic, but you would need a good story to use it in first. To be honest I'm not that interested the one you mentioned, but I'm not that interested in most Sci-fi based Ranma stories.

I did manage to get the first Count Duckula DVD from EzyDVD some time ago, so a few episodes at least made it to DVD production at one point.
