Yes, and early Roman Republican Hastatus wore a breast plate armor called a pectorale.
Again she is not depicting an ordinary legionary. The belt around her waist is a symbol of command.
(Nor is she a republican - her cry of SPQR can be attributed to the mos maiorum {the custom of one's ancestors})
In all seriousness if you can find me a good picture of a roman woman with washboard abs I will correct this.

Everyone else has commented on the shadows already. I'm not familiar enough with the character to comment on the accuracy of the rendition. But I have to comment on the name. Would Sailor Paprika still be able to fight Saffron?J. St.C. Patrick wrote:This is inspired by a scene in the movie Paprika where Paprika was dressed as the Monkey King.
Presenting Senshi Paprika Ranma:

You have Ranma's shadow falling across the cloud in roughly the 9 o'clock position. But the shading on the body indicates a primary light source from about 2 o'clock, which should cast a shadow running toward 7 o'clock across the cloud.
BTW, the shadows in the background picture are running toward 9:30!

Looks good, but a little too much like what Agatha would design for herself for real combat. The Senshi uniforms are supposed to be a little cheesecake and silly, so the monsters hang around to giggle or wait for a panty shot.Ellen Kuhfeld wrote:I think I'll crash the party. I'm a fan of Girl Genius. What kind of steampunk Senshi might Agatha Hetrodyne make? She's even got a cat!
Without further ado, I present Sailor Spark, and Krosp, the Spark Cat:
