Do you think crossing other uniforms into Fuku Designs is a good idea?

No problem. I figured you could use something other than "Great! Now draw more!" ;-)

Okay, I understand what you were shooting for now. The kilt threw me off because leather strips don't defy gravity the way they do in this drawing.

Yes, and early Roman Republican Hastatus wore a breast plate armor called a pectorale.

Again she is not depicting an ordinary legionary. The belt around her waist is a symbol of command.
(Nor is she a republican - her cry of SPQR can be attributed to the mos maiorum {the custom of one's ancestors})

In all seriousness if you can find me a good picture of a roman woman with washboard abs I will correct this.

Roman women didn't become soldiers. If they had, it's likely they would have had a female version of a pectorale. In David Drake's Belisarius Series, which is based on the Byzantine Empire, he has Belisarius' wife wear custom armor, and one of the running jokes in the series is about the highly-polished brass bosom of the breastplate. It engendered comments like "No woman could possibly have tits that big!", and "When she leads her troops into battle, they have an advantage. The sun reflected off her brass tits blinds the enemy."

Something to keep in mind is that the Romans inherited the Greek preoccupation with physical perfection. The armor is a boast about what the officer's body really looks like - or at least, what he'd like it to look like. It may have also been intended for some form of intimidation.

It's possible to find pictures of Minerva in a pectorale, but they are usually Renaissance or later.

Well, there's always the possibility of Ranma wearing Xena's armor if you want to go that route. I don't think we've had Sailor Xena yet, have we?

On another note, how about a harem girl senshi?

If you want to make Xena's Armor into a Fuku you just have to add a leather sailors collar. I mean think of the form it doesn't have far to go.

True. I'd like to see Senshi Xena with a chakram in her hands.

The best way to get that might be to get someone to do some Fan Art for Cloud Dreamers Earth Princess story. Ranma was supposedly her in one of the previous lives. And the only other time Ranma had previously been Male was a Conan. It would be fun to see more of those past life aspects but I should really say that to Cloud Dreamer. He also has that new chapter I haven't commented on yet. . . Ok I have reading to do and E-Mail to write.

This is inspired by a scene in the movie Paprika (trailer) where Paprika was dressed as the Monkey King.

And for those who notice the shadows are wrong for the background:

How about one for those of us who notice that the shadows are still wrong?

You have Ranma's shadow falling across the cloud in roughly the 9 o'clock position. But the shading on the body indicates a primary light source from about 2 o'clock, which should cast a shadow running toward 7 o'clock across the cloud.

BTW, the shadows in the background picture are running toward 9:30!

Everyone else has commented on the shadows already. I'm not familiar enough with the character to comment on the accuracy of the rendition. But I have to comment on the name. Would Sailor Paprika still be able to fight Saffron?

Or possibly go to DBZ and fight Garlic (jr)?

In Saffron's dreams certainly.

Paprika is to the heroine of the movie as the Meliorist is to Asuka in Sic Semper Morituri.

In dreams anything is possible.

I'd say to shorten the sleeves, maybe eliminate them all together, and put some glove on. Also a lighter shade of lipstick. Cherry red just doesn't seem to work too well for her in this pic.
JoT is on hold..again. Legal issues and work modes have been incresingly harsh. Chapter is 25% done. Sorry.

I think I'll crash the party. I'm a fan of Girl Genius. What kind of steampunk Senshi might Agatha Hetrodyne make? She's even got a cat!

Without further ado, I present Sailor Spark, and Krosp, the Spark Cat:

I traced one of Phil Foglio's large pics (from the days when Agatha was travelling with Master Payne's Circus). Redrew it, watercolored it, scanned it. My scanner doesn't do a good job on pale colors, so I tinted things up again in Photoshop. It's okay, but one of these days I really have to get a better scanner and learn more about Photoshop.

Looks good, but a little too much like what Agatha would design for herself for real combat. The Senshi uniforms are supposed to be a little cheesecake and silly, so the monsters hang around to giggle or wait for a panty shot.

Besides, aren't you supposed to give the speech first? Then hope they haven't run away before you've finished.
