Combining Uniforms, How to make a Fuku similar to this?

Request, Submission, or Review of Fanart. Again "fukufic" content preferred but not necessary

Do you think crossing other uniforms into Fuku Designs is a good idea?

Remember, Agatha would be a steampunk senshi. That would mean full Victorian dress, or perhaps something rather like the Starlights, with more brass. I kinda split the difference.

Meanwhile, I can't see Agatha Heterodyne giving some villainous creature a long prologue, though she might engage them in discussion of exactly how they might prefer to be sliced and diced. If they looked like they were getting away, all bets would be off.

I wonder what Othar would look like as Tuxedo Kamen?

Welcome!

I'm a fan of Girl Genius. What kind of steampunk Senshi might Agatha Hetrodyne make? She's even got a cat!

Without further ado, I present Sailor Spark, and Krosp, the Spark Cat:

Image

I traced one of Phil Foglio's large pics (from the days when Agatha was travelling with Master Payne's Circus). Redrew it, watercolored it, scanned it. My scanner doesn't do a good job on pale colors, so I tinted things up again in Photoshop. It's okay, but one of these days I really have to get a better scanner and learn more about Photoshop.

Nicely done!

Daniel Jess Gibson wrote:Looks good, but a little too much like what Agatha would design for herself for real combat. The Senshi uniforms are supposed to be a little cheesecake and silly, so the monsters hang around to giggle or wait for a panty shot.

Given the uniform combinations I've provided, Ellen's party crashing Agatha would fit right in.

Give it a shot and show us. In fact if there are any others you want to bring to the party please do so.
(if I can post Tuxedo Popeye and Tuxedo Ranma-chan you can post Tuxedo Othar)

I'm still worried about someone coming out with a Tuxedo Optimal Optimus Prime from Beast Wars.

Nah, I can actually see a gorilla in a tuxedo.

A Gorilla Sailor Optimus Prime, on the other hand...

Very nice work. I'm glad to see that this thread is alive. I hope there'll be more. How about a Super Mario senshi?
And that's the bottom line 'cause Dumbledork said so.

Wonderful. Now you've got me imagining the ENTIRE cast of Smash Bros. Brawl as Senshi. Even the Hands. o_O

(...no, I'm NOT going to draw that picture. )
Still alive, but failing miserably at dodging Real Life.

That's a really nice look. But wouldn't a Wakizashi have been better for the shorter partner blade given the scale? What clan is represented with the characters on her bow and bodice?

How soon you forget.

It was posted only a year, three months and eight days ago. I mean, really.

No? Aw come on.

Possibly, but my source image had two long swords.

If you have a good picture of a wakizashi, please post it and I'll see about replacing the second sword. Perferably as carried (i.e. on a samurai)

The characters don't represent any clan - Here's a clear view of the Kanji with my dictionary's definitions:

Wakizashi are fairly similar to katana in appearance except for length. A katana is 60-73 cm in length (Average length tended to vary depending on what historical period it was made in), while a wakizashi can range from 30-60cm in length, with the average length around 50cm.

As to wearing it, I believe the long blade is worn cutting edge up, and the short blade is worn cutting edge down.

Nope. Both are worn cutting edge up. Why? I don't know. There's no practical reason for it, and the older daisho pair, the tachi and tanto, were both worn edge down.

In fact, wearing a blade cutting edge up can have its problems. I once wore one in traditional wakizashi style, and didn't notice that it hadn't seated properly in the sheath. I bent over to pick up an object, and the blade slid out about two inches. Now, out of habit I always checked how tightly the sword was seated by hooking a thumb over the tsuba after I did anything that might unseat it. When I stood up - and without looking, since it was a habitual reaction - I put my left hand around the end of the sheath and reached for the tsuba with my thumb to check the seating... and ended up laying it on the cutting edge of the blade. I didn't drag my thumb against it and didn't apply much pressure at all, but got a fairly deep cut anyway.

If wakizashi were worn edge down, I'd have avoided some bleeding!

The Year is 50 BC. Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans.
Well, not entirely... One small village of indomitable Gauls still
hold out against the invaders. And life is not easy for the
Roman legionaries who garrison the fortified camps of
Furincanum, Nerimoricum, Jubanum and Arcadiae Corona

The hand hold on the dagger/sword is too short. It looks like it's only three quarters at most but closer to half a hand and I don't even have any kitchen knives with a handle that short. Also the helmet is sitting kinda high and isn't shaped quite right to really be on her. It looks more like when a friend tried to make a helmet out of a cereal bowl. And one last thing the earring feels off. It's like it's hanging from just above/behind the lobe.
