A live-action television adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma ½ martial arts comedy manga will air this December as a two-hour special on Japan's NTV network. Yui Aragaki (Digimon: Data Squad, Koizora) will play Akane Tendō, and Kento Kaku (Paradise Kiss, Gokusen) and Natsuna (Gantz) will play the dual male/female sides of the title character Ranma Saotome.

So a live-action adaptation has finally happened. What are your thoughts?

Hot damn.

But if its a made for TV special, that would imply that their budget isn't large enough for (good) wire-fu or cgi martial arts. Who's or what is playing Genma?

I have a feeling it will be more of a drama/comedy rather than a martial arts comedy.

Excited, but I'm pretty sure that its going to suck unless the budget is a lot bigger than I think it will be.

I can't imagine it being any good. But who knows; if it's popular maybe they'll produce a new Ranma anime series.

Eh... Sounds like the series is going to reach a new low outside of its native medium. Every live-action movie based on a fighting game has sucked (in my opinion), and while the ones I've seen were made in English I don't expect a Japanese-borne one to be any better.

I'll watch it, to at least give it a chance, but I'm not raising my hope up.

it cool to see something new from ranma after all these years. meybe it will lead to something new and it will open up the story to lots of new fans and get them into the story. meybe something good will come from it and we can only hope for the best at least.

It looks worse then I imagined, and I imagined it looking pretty bad.

It's not really THAT bad. The characters look alright in costume.

Even if it's bad, it should still make for a fun watch I suppose
