He wasn't dying, though. It was an effect of a mushi which would have killed him/absorbed him if his mentor didn't save him by interfering.

Well, the first one is sort of a cop out if I accept it, so... The second one isn't really applicable since Ginko is wandering due to his job and affliction of attracting mushi if he stays in one place for too long. Also, Shaoron is traveling for a specific purpose; to regain Sakura's feathers/memories.

Jet lost an arm and had a cybernetic one attached. Fey and Ed are the only ones on the crew who weren't 'changed' if you consider cryogenic freezing on Fey's part 'not changed'.

I was going to use Faye from Cowboy Bebop as well, but she's not introduced to the series having just awoken from suspended animation, even though a flashback ep shows that this is technically true.
