Naruto: A well written Sakura-centric story

Any well written Sakura-centric Naruto stories that don't focus on pairings, preferably crossovers involving her being a reincarnation to explain Inner Sakura, like that one where she was Lina Inverse in a past life, or that Karmic Echo Ranma crossover.

I've been having trouble finding Sakura-centric stories where she isn't a wallflower that take place in Naruto-cannon universe, rather than some weird high school setting, and don't have her paired with someone ridiculous like Kakashi, Itachi or Garra. In fact I'd prefer no pairings for Sakura at all, she can want one, but I'd prefer to story not to focus on romance, kissing, or sex, and for the characters to be the same age as cannon, and for the setting to not be very AU, but more of a divergence that happens after the start of Naruto cannon.

A time-travel fic with Sakura traveling back to team 7's formation might also be interesting, if it is well written.

Not a crossover but I personally like Suiren. Be warned it's gotten kind of yuri flavoured in more recent chapters if you don't like that sort of thing.

While that's the FF.N site it might be worth it to read the version on the author's personal site since she's been rewriting certain parts and hasn't gotten around to updating the FF.N version.

Thanks Knight of L-sama, I just finished reading the story on the link, it is the funniest fanfiction I've read in a while, and I liked the portrayal of Sakura's character, even if it was rather off from what I wanted or expected, because it was really funny. I haven't giggled that hard from a story in a while.

I especially liked the 'Gaiden' part after the currently finished story sections, with the 'Sakura-type' chakra. The story actually reminded me of an idea I'd had bouncing around recently of what Sakura's family might be like, as they are never portrayed in cannon. I was thinking of a minor Tenchi Muyo!/GXP cameo type thing, with one side of her family being the Tennan family, and her having an 'Uncle Serio' who is a samurai combat instructor that tends to be a pompus windbag, and this being the side of the family her pink hair came from. I'd actually watched Tenchi Muyo OAV III and GXP recently, and Serio's pink hair got me thinking of Sakura, and how funny it would be for her to have family like that, but I don't think a whole fanfic could be made around it, just some silly cameo in one.

Oh come on, there has to be more of these out there, I'd even be satisfied with more fics that fit most of the terms but aren't actually Sakura-centric, just team 7 centric, or at least Naruto and Sakura on the same team, the other team-mate and sensei can be different, although I'd prefer team 7 as I'd want to see the other Sakura deal with the issues that cannon Naruto follows, most of which revolve around Naruto and Sasuke...

Speaking of which perhaps it would be nice if something from the fics revolved around Sakura, such as her turning out to have interesting relatives or ancestry that the team gets mixed up in, or her new abilities drawing unwanted attention.

The topic title says well written. I think that may be the biggest stumbling block. I'm not big on Naruto fics but well written ones are somewhat rare on their own and then Skura centric which is rare also. It whittles down possibilities and I can't think of anything not already listed. But there is a point to my saying this. When I make a statement like this there often is someone to come along and prove me wrong. Here's hoping it happens and helps.

I think that one of theproblems is that most people don't like Sakura. Quite frankly, I absolutely hate Sasuke and don't have much love for Sakura. Quite frankly, she's one of the most annoying characters in Naruto. Especially the stunt Kishimoto pulled from turning her from a completely useless kunoichi into an unbeatable medic-nin while Naruto learnt nothing over the three years he was gone.

But well, I disbelieve. PTS never happened in my book.

Is Karmic Echo the story where Ranma and Sakura share the same body?

If not, there's that and I'll go look for the link. I remember it being fairly decent, even if Ranma is too godlike (as in, mentioning Ranma's name would make most of the bijuu piss in their pants and, quite literally, scramble away in fear) and angsty for my tastes.

Wrong, in 'Wild Cherry Blossom' Sakura is a Ranma jinchuuriki, although not quite, as nobody sealed Ranma in her, he went into her on his own.

There's One Hundred Days by Aaron Nowack. It's not wholly Sakura centered but at least half of it is, and the writing is top notch. Not a crossover, but very good and worth a read.

Hopefully this will be as well written, but more coherent with the recent revelations about the Naruto world and the operation of chakra and ki, as well as where Sakura came from and her connections to Ranma than the previous stories, and will be continued and updated more often than his past attempts. Notably Largo seems to be putting some effort into creating cool!Sakura stories, so I'd recommend checking out his author page, as there is at least one other Sakura story that fits this sort of thing, although there isn't much to it, and doesn't look like it will be continued.

It doesn't even have to be too well written, just an average fic that is readable will do, or perhaps not quite Sakura-centric, but maybe with a Naruto pairing or friendship. I basically want to see a fic with a competent, likeable Sakura, who has become that way by divergence and/or slight AU. It doesn't matter if it is by a bloodline or whatever, but I do want team 7 to remain the same, or maybe a Sakura-Hinata switch where the fic follows Kurenai's team and Sakura's training under Kurenai for at least part of it. There is so much opportunity to do this given Sakura's position in the story and her potential as a character, compared to what Kishimoto actually does with her pre-time-skip.

Also hasn't been updated in a while, and stops about the same point, but starts earlier. It is also rather amusing in several ways, and I highly recommend reading it, although some Slayers fans might notice a few oddities and discrepancies.
