Stories where Ranma wishes all magic removed from his life

Postby PCHeintz72 » Thu Feb 26, 2009 11:59 pm

In a rarity... I actually have a story search. Maybe this one will have better luck than some of the prior ones by me over the years.

This kind of came to me while reading one of the many many many Ranma gets a wish stories.

In so many of those, he seems to fail to resolve his issues, or just create new ones.

Basically, as the title suggests... What if he had thought things through a bit more and was not interrupted and made a wish (wish could be being granted by a god, goddess, sword, monkeys paw, etc...) for all curses and magic and damages they cause to be removed from his life.

Understand, not removed 'from him', removed 'from his life'.

Think of the chaos. Think of all the cursed/possessed objects from the series, etc...

Also think of how such might be done.

I was wondering if there were any stories like that.

Only two come to mind, and both do so only partially and/or indirectly. That is 'When you wish upon a sword' by Metroanime, and 'Rune Soldier Ranma' by Animeaddiction.

Note... This search request has been cross posted on Temple of Ranma's Seifuku (Fukufics), Anifics, Be Your True Mind (BYTM), and The Fanfiction Forum (TFF).

wow your right that is rare. I really wish I could help you since you've helped me loads, but I dont't recall ever reading a fic like that. Sounds like a good story idea, so maybe somebody reading this request might become inspired to create one.

So are you thinking of something along the lines of all the Magic garbage that affects Ranma, suddenly no longer being a part of HIM but instead it all gets transferred to the periphery characters?

I'm not certain of any fics quite like what you request, other than the two you've already read. As you well know there are hundreds of fics where s/he makes wishes to be free of the curse and such, but the authors have usually made these backfire onto Ranma, with the most notable of that type being "A not so simple wish" by Ebiris.
I guess Ranma would still be a focal point of action, just the magical curses/items would be transferred to the others. That's doubly so if Magic follows the laws of conservations, and can't be destroyed only converted...

Hmm, I'll have to think this one over.

In Worlds Fall Apart Ranma gets his hands on and tries to use a gem that could make clear to him what he really wants.
And to pull him out of a magic overdose induced coma, Tofu purges every trace of magic from his body. The result reminded me of an anime called 'Cheeky Angel'.

I'm afraid looking into this one that it really does not apply. It is one of the many wish stories that get turned around on him to just keep the magic in his life and everything chaotic.

However... having said that, I can say I only read the first couple chapters, not the whole 98000+ word story, so I could be wrong if it is fixed in later chapters.

The Cheeky Angel reference note is a good point, as very little fanfiction exists for it, though there is the Ranma crossover of R-CA 'Someone Who Can Sympathize' by Baron Hausenpheffer. I thought it quite decent.

Not sure how relevant this is, but MZephyr's Account Transfer has Ryoga wishing for Ranma's "problems".

Well... it is not exactly what I was thinking of... but close.

Personally... he does not have it as bad as Ranma used to though. No seppuku contract was mentioned, his parents seem more supportive than Ranma's...

Still a decent read, and of the 4 sites posted this on, that was the closest that fit what I wanted. There are discrepancies... the wish was to Ryoga, and centered on him not Ranma, and was a Ranma/Akane match, it also failed to get rid of Ranma's curse.

I really do not consider 'A not so Simple Wish' (which was brought up on two of them) as a contender. She is not even Ranma any more, and still has to deal with some of his issues.
