Best of FF7 - PreGame/AU/Redo

Seeing Darkbane848's thread made me want to ask something similar, only somewhat more restricted. I'm guessing a lot of people here wouldn't follow this section of fanfiction either.

What are the best, non male/male pairing, stories of the following types, that focus on Cloud or Zack:

- Redo Fics (someone goes back in time and does it over).

- Alternate versions of the events of the original game.

- Stories about events before the original game (bonus points if it's when both Cloud and Zack are training or working for Shinra, I never did get far in Crisis Core).

Fanfiction with close friendship between males is okay, or even male/male pairings in the background. I'd prefer fiction that's overall het or gen though. It seems difficult to wade through all the things like Cloud/Seph/Zack with warnings about angst, crack and secret daughters, so I'm hoping people know some to recommend.
