For Ranma and maybe 1 companion,Where would he best thrive?

Postby Anime_Freak317 » Tue Dec 19, 2006 8:37 am

Okay, here's another pointless poll question for all us OTAKU out there.
QUESTION,
What Anime-verse would Ranma best thrive in? In other words...What Anime X-over would best suit Ranma if he was transported there on a one-way ticket?
If he were to have one and only ONE other member of his world with him, who would that be? (Mark your answers on the reply boxes.) But keep in mind, this is mostly for Ranma.
I have listed some Anime/Manga series that are on my TOP list (within the top 20 Anime/Manga series). Others will also have to be noted in the R-Boxes.
JoT is on hold..again. Legal issues and work modes have been incresingly harsh. Chapter is 25% done. Sorry.

well, I think it really depends on if ranma is capable of fighting at the same level as the inhabitants of the world he gets stuck in.
Obviously, a Ranma in Tenchi-verse who is incapable of wielding Lighthawk energy or anything comprable would only get his ass kicked by every space pirate, princess, and GP Officer in the galaxy.
Similarly, if ranma gets stuck in SM-verse, but it takes actual magic to harm the average MotW, and Ki does nothing, then he's equally screwed.
I did have to avoid Tenchi-verse though because of the other women in that series. None of them would really take kindly to his foot-in-mouth disease long enough to break him of the habit gently, well, maybe sasami once she's all grown up...
I also thought about A!MG, but the Kasumi-act-a-like already has a S.O. so ranma is out of luck there. Urd would never really be able to calm down enough and remain in character to win Ranma, and Skuld would treat him about the same as Akane, if marginally better.
He should be able to survive rather well in Fushigi Yugi or Samurai X worlds because they are a lot like his own power level, mostly skills based with a bit of Ki thrown in for spice. Yu Yu Hakusho is another world where he could survive rather well, so long as he can actually hurt the demons. He'd have to start learning how to use his brain for things other than combat, but he could survive.
Gunbusters... I just don't really see this as viable for some reason. true, it was many years ago that I watched the series last, but, I just have this image of ranma standing there facing the Gunbuster, then going squish...
I don't know the others to comment, so I'll STFU now... :)

I choose other, and the other is Fruits Basket. Mwahahahaha. That way Ranma isn't up against things that would eat normal humans for breakfast or sword styles capable of slicing him to ribbons faster than he can punch.

As to the original question, I'd say without any extenuating circumstances or plot devices, with just a drop off and that's it, he'd probably thrive in the more normal worlds, such as Aoi Yori Aoshi, where he could make a killing (not literally) with his training.
Otherwise, FY would have to be my vote of the original options for its out there but not _way_ out there style of martial artists, that kind of reminds me of Ranma, though I don't remember enough of it to be one hundred percent certain. And Ranma would still be able to contend with the Shukaku (or whatever the names of the fighters of the priestesses are called, as I said, it's been a while) even with their magic, as aside from it, they aren't that exceptional of fighters, and Ranma has already learned to deal with weird but not insanely overpowering in the terms that it's a one-hit uber move, and would be able to compete on even footing.

Fraid I had to click other too.
The slayers Universe would fit him best! The kid was MADE to save the world and eat titanic amounts of food with equally stupid, smart, conniving, and justice seeking, cohorts banded together to save the world!
Plus seeing Ranma-chan throw a Ki-blast against a fireball would be incredibly entertaining.
Perhaps not though. I could compare Ranma's "Hiryu Shoten Ha" to the "Dragon Slave" in raw destructive power, but Ranma's technique seems incredibly more difficult than Lina's.
Perhaps if he mastered a "Perfect Moko Takabisha" then they'd be directly in the same ball park.

I think that Ranma takes to Yu Yu Hakshu like a fish takes to Tartar sauce- not very willingly, but very well.
Ignoring the power difference, eveyone in the YuYuverse is used to a great jerk of a fighter, so Ranma will fit in just fine.

If you're talking about the cannon Ranma nad only talk about his actual powerlevel I'd say Fatal Fury (or any other similar fighting game, be it Street Fighter, World Heroes, King of Fighters, Art of Fighting,...)
He'd weep the floor with the guys from Ai Yori Aoshi (but I'd really like to read some Ranma/Ai Yori Aoshi fics as I know of only one).
And that's the bottom line 'cause Dumbledork said so.

I also think he would fit in best within a fighting world. He may do well in FYY, due to the wierd spiritual/magical things, but I think Ranma would do better in fatal fury. He's still young, so he can learn a lot through his time, and if not compete with the top of the top from the get-go, he could work his way up. though the drama of fighting series like Fatal Fury wouldn't be something he'd welcome... Then again, maybe he could give those series some comedy relief?

his fiancee's cooking always made him hurl.
Instead of eating one day, he tried to throw it away, and now he has a bird's eye view of the world.

But I think it would also be interesting to se Ranma in the Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) universe. I think he could keep up with them. Maybe not Ken or Raoh but I think he'd be evely matched with the Nanto guys.
And that's the bottom line 'cause Dumbledork said so.

I also voted other for this. I think Ranma would work out best in the Naruto world. but not as a ninja but as a traveling trouble shooter. I can see him getting into fights with ninjas an learning their jutsus but i can't really see Ranma becomeing a ninja himself. Ranma only goes for the kill when every other option has been tried.
I can see Ranma making a name for himself as he travels around the elemental contries. Might be intresting to have him end up in the Village hiddeing among the Leaves an take on a young blonde boy as a student.

I think Ranma would best thrives in a Fatal Fury/King of Fighter/Street Fighter-esque universe.
Lots of people practicing martial arts (some good, some better than him), lots of techniques to learn, bad guys wield don't use gun, the populace somewhat condones street fights, etc. It would be a world that caters to his interest as well as play up to his own moral system ("a martial artist's duty..."), as well as falling into his general skill/power level.

Ranma could likely do well in:
The Sailor Moon anime world
GXP(Saina got a power-up, and Ranma might not even need one. GXP and Tenchi Muyo are the same universe)
Slayers
Bastard
Gun Smith Cats
Chibi-Vampire
Ah My Goddess
He could likely do well in most fighting game universes
I could list more, but there are just so many I can't choose wich he would do best in.
