The only thing I can think of that hasnt been mentioned is possibly Akira. It would be a pretty difficult world to use in more than passing unless setup with a similar cyberpunk plot (like bubble gum crissis) or an armageddon type event.
I have to agree though that Rune Soldier isnt used as much as it could be. It would be especially easy to cross into a slayers setting or something similar as the anime covers very little outside of Ohfun and the surrounding territory (making it an ideal candidate to be dropped on the map somewhere). It brings to mind an excellent story I read on fanfic.net called Rune Soldier Ranma. Had a lot of creative additions that fit the feel of both series. It probably wouldnt take much to place Ohfun on a silver millenium era earth. Of course short of back story purposes some kind of time travel plot device or situation would probably have to be used to make the effort worth more than a reader's easter egg.

I'm pretty much the same way with Macross and BGC (of course being a member of the MRC and having a tendency to reread my BGC RPG books fairly regularly might have something to do with that^_^)

As far as AzuMaga Daioh goes, yes, it's kind of hard to write about, but there are some that make successful stories with it. One of the more prominant ones is D.B. Summers.

AAAAHHHH!!! BAKABAKABAKABAKABAKA!!!! How could I forget about the modern day classic "Akira." This was the first Anime Movie I ever watched. As for BGC, I've only seen parts of BGC, but have the entire 2040.

RPG??? As in Role Playing Game books??? I didn't think they had those in America yet.
Oh yeah, and a couple of others I just thought of:
25.)A.I.Love You (G/N)
26.)Kaleido Star (Anime)
The list goes on, and on, and on...
JoT is on hold..again. Legal issues and work modes have been incresingly harsh. Chapter is 25% done. Sorry.

Where I am, pretty much all anime is under represented in the media. Any that we do have are on DVD. They'd never turn up on the TV.
Ranma. We have the first two movies, and the second was only recently released. We don't have the series at all.
Ghost in the Shell. Not including the SAC, but even that doesn't relly get any attention.
Slayers. We have the OVA's. That's it.
Akira
Bubblegum Crisis. The original, not Tokyo 2040. I've actually seen that on TV.
Maybe it'd be easier to list the stuff that is covered by the media.
As mentioned, BGC Tokyo 2040. DBZ, Yugioh, Pokemon. The only other anime I've seen that isn't on in the middle of the night is Nadesico, Cowboy Bebop, Tenchi and Excel Saga.
After careful study of Number One's biographic work My Ceaseless Quest to Conquer Earth and Destroy its Puny Inhabitants, we have come to the conclusion that the Ghast Empire may well be up to something rum.

They've been out for a while-the third and last book (apparently they only had enough material for three books), Bubblegum Crisis Ex, cameout in 1998- and BGC was the first game to use R. Tal's Fuzion system. Unfortunately, the books are out of print right now but if you're interested in getting the books you can try www.talsorian.com or ebay.

ArgH! I forgot Bastard! Hevy Metal and Anime! Fused Together into teh Unholy Form Of Dark Schneider!
And Azumanga Daioh is under represented in Fanfics, but so is most of Miyazaki's work. Which is sort of sad.

You're welcome and good luck finding them. According to R. Tal's website they still have some of 'BGC: Before and After in stock (whether or not they do depends on when they last updated^_^) but not the other two.

Hands down has to be Mobile Police Patlabour.
Patlabour was one of the first ever manga videos I rented, and it still has the best thriller plot of any film I have ever seen. I truly wish that it were better known.
