Some more questions about Sailormoon

Postby antimatterenergy » Thu Jul 27, 2006 1:54 am

-A question re-asked for starters: Does Tuxedo Mask have any abilities that would put him above Kuno in the anime (sailormoon anime not Ranma)?
- Anime only question: How did Pluto convince Hotaru's dad to give Hotaru to her? Did she kidnap her?
- I looked at a few faq's but couldn't really find a good answer for this: What are the enemies of the senshi after and how do they extract what they want (life energy, heart crystals, etc..) I can't remember how the life energy, etc.. was extracted.
-How do the anime Senshi compare to manga Akane physically? Are they as strong as Akane who has demonstrated the ability to lift things bigger than she is (ice during ice skating match) and can break concrete, Akane is fast enough to to turn around and catch an arrow shot at her back as shown during her escape from the phoenix are they fast enough to do that? How well would the senshi do against the hentai horde (group of moderately skilled fighters attacking en-mass) if they lost they're ability to throw magic around? Can they jump really high (couple floors up high) like Akane demonstrated during the orachi story line? Do they have Akane's level of Stamina. i.e Akane is able to attack Ranma for hours while Ranma dances around her in the dojo?
-Who do you think would win in a sword fight Akane armed with a really strong but otherwise normal sword or Haruku armed with her sword?
-Since the silver crystal is Usagi's star seed can other people use it?
-Is Chibi-usa powerful enough to defeat P-chan?
-DO the Sailor scouts really have disguise magic in the anime? I heard/remember that Usagi hid from her brother when disguised because she thought he'd recognize her, I think someone recognizes Tuxedo kamen in one of the movies, and I think someone recognized Sailor Venus as Minako in around episode 100. Also didn't several of the villians eventually figure out their so called secret identies?
-How do regular people in the sailormoon universe see the Senshi?
-This is a weird one. In Sailor Stars chibi-usa starts to fade away when Tuxedo Kamen is under a spell. If she did fade away it would mean that she never went back in time and would have changed all sorts of things but she was still able to exist when Tuxedo Kamen was dead during the later season why?

Ok here we go!
-A question re-asked for starters: Does Tuxedo Mask have any abilities that would put him above Kuno in the anime (sailormoon anime not Ranma)?
Sadly no. He has one extra move, Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber, Or some such none sense. I see Kuno getting hammered with it and then getting right back up. Then Rose boys in for a world of hurt as Kuno’s a much better fighter then he is.
- Anime only question: How did Pluto convince Hotaru's dad to give Hotaru to her? Did she kidnap her?
The dad’s dead. He was a youma to long and the outers didn’t ‘t even try to heal him before they took em out.
`I looked at a few faq's but couldn't really find a good answer for this: What are the enemies of the senshi after and how do they extract what they want (life energy, heart crystals, etc..) I can't remember how the life energy, etc.. was extracted.
Beryl’s army used a focus to steal life energy. Like charms and floppy disk’s. It Would flow from the focus to the youma to the general. Killing the youma normally freed the energy. Heart Crystals where been hunted by 9chan’s crew. They used weird guns or test tube youma to remove them. Galxaies group was a giant mass of poor plotting and was able to do it any damn way the pleased.
`How do the anime Senshi compare to manga Akane physically? Are they as strong as Akane who has demonstrated the ability to lift things bigger than she is (ice during ice skating match) and can break concrete, Akane is fast enough to to turn around and catch an arrow shot at her back as shown during her escape from the phoenix are they fast enough to do that?
That’s hard to say. They never really used raw power like that before. Right now I would go for no. And say Akane’s stronger.
There fast enough to pull something off like catching an arrow. But there reflexes suck and they normal get nailed.
` How well would the senshi do against the hentai horde (group of moderately skilled fighters attacking en-mass) if they lost they're ability to throw magic around?
They are still magic girls. The horde would go down in a flurry of angry stomping.
`Can they jump really high (couple floors up high) like Akane demonstrated during the orachi story line?
Yes, this they do often. In the manga they can fly as well.
Do they have Akane's level of Stamina. i.e Akane is able to attack Ranma for hours while Ranma dances around her in the dojo?
There stamina is rather low. It’s boosted for sure, but they will often wear down fast in fights and get hammered.
On the other hand with just a few moments of down time they recharge fast and can get back into it. Oddly enough this is often during the bad guys “I win” speech.
-Who do you think would win in a sword fight Akane armed with a really strong but otherwise normal sword or Haruku armed with her sword?
Unfukued Akane would own poor Haruka. Against Uranus I would have to give the match to the senshi.
Since the silver crystal is Usagi's star seed can other people use it?
Its only her star seed at the very end of the last season. Just one giant plot hole there.
It’s not her star seed and is a uber power sorce/focus that was her mothers before her.
Beryl’s group started hunting it as soon as they learned it was still around. And the black moon family came back in time with the side goal of getting it for them self’s. Since the one in the future disappeared, it merged with chibiusa.
Funny.. how could it do that if it was Usagi’s star seed? Ahh well lets not get into SM plot holes here.
DO the Sailor scouts really have disguise magic in the anime? I heard/remember that Usagi hid from her brother when disguised because she thought he'd recognize her, I think someone recognizes Tuxedo kamen in one of the movies, and I think someone recognized Sailor Venus as Minako in around episode 100. Also didn't several of the villians eventually figure out their so called secret identies?
It’s not said that they do or not. It just never comes up unless for a bit of comedy. Like Usagi diving in that bush.
But no none of the bad guys ever tracked the lazy girls down.
-How do regular people in the sailormoon universe see the Senshi?
They do have Sailor V video games ya know.
-This is a weird one. In Sailor Stars chibi-usa starts to fade away when Tuxedo Kamen is under a spell. If she did fade away it would mean that she never went back in time and would have changed all sorts of things but she was still able to exist when Tuxedo Kamen was dead during the later season why?’

-A question re-asked for starters: Does Tuxedo Mask have any abilities that would put him above Kuno in the anime (sailormoon anime not Ranma)?

Well, his roses can go through body armour instead of just air.
His cane extends - he's even used it as a projectile before.
And he's got a variety of semi-funky tricks - he sealed a daimon in place once, and I remember seeing him launch a whole capeful of roses once.
- Anime only question: How did Pluto convince Hotaru's dad to give Hotaru to her? Did she kidnap her?

Plot hole based on the anime's call to let him live.
I think she just asked him.
- I looked at a few faq's but couldn't really find a good answer for this: What are the enemies of the senshi after and how do they extract what they want (life energy, heart crystals, etc..) I can't remember how the life energy, etc.. was extracted.

Which ones?
Youma generally used magical means to extract energy - Jadeite's favoured an enchanted item, Nephrite's were contained in the enchantment he placed on an item and did the draining on their own...
I have no recollection of how the enemies from R worked - I seem to remember the Black Moon Clan using their statue-things to spread dark crystal energy in modern Tokyo, guarded by their droids, though.
Daimons varied based on which lady was puppeteering them. Kaolinite's used a beam of black light from the star symbol somewhere on their bodies to rip out heart crystals, Eudial did her extractions with that freaky gun of hers and used her daimons for backup...
Dead Moon Circus used magic to extract dream mirrors, if I remember right. Something like counting up, on each count a different effect occurred (don't trust my memory on this, but I think it was 'One', board rises behind them, 'Two', they get tied back against said board, 'Three', dream mirror pops out).
I don't remember how the extractions went in Stars (they may've just used their bracelets). But basically they yank out a Star Seed, check it. Normal human Star Seeds 'lose their shine' in the outside world - go black. When the Seed goes black, the human turns into a 'Phage', something of a 'Sailor' parody of themselves - they were all in fuku, even the guys.

I don't remember any explicitly incredible feats of strength or speed - they're usually directing those attributes against opponents who are just as boosted as they are, so it doesn't stand out as much as Akane's liberal abuse of property and characters.
How well would the senshi do against the hentai horde (group of moderately skilled fighters attacking en-mass) if they lost they're ability to throw magic around?

Well, in like the third episode, Moon demonstrated some rather unusual combat skills for a clutzy 13/14-year old schoolgirl, smacking down a trio of large guys in no time flat.
The actual melee specialists like Jupiter and Uranus would blow through the hentai horde without noticing.
Can they jump really high (couple floors up high) like Akane demonstrated during the orachi story line?

These are people who play around on the Tokyo tower, AM.
Do they have Akane's level of Stamina. i.e Akane is able to attack Ranma for hours while Ranma dances around her in the dojo?

Dunno where their stamina showed itself at, if at all.
-Who do you think would win in a sword fight Akane armed with a really strong but otherwise normal sword or Haruku armed with her sword?

I'd give it to Uranus. Even assuming Akane were better with the sword (an assumption I'm not willing to make - Akane's a pitifully-skilled gorilla, who's primarily displayed raw strength, whereas Uranus's displays in combat were generally of skill), Uranus has two large advantages. First, she can attack at long range - Akane wouldn't even get close enough to turn it into a match of swords.
Second, her sword is magically sharper and tougher. At freakish levels of strength, constantly crashing together, normal swords get sheared in half.
-Since the silver crystal is Usagi's star seed can other people use it?

Debateable. Galaxia apparently managed to get some use out of other people's Star Seeds, after all.
I'd say 'probably', but it'd need to be a major-level magical villain who really knows what they're doing.
-Is Chibi-usa powerful enough to defeat P-chan?

... I hope that was a joke. No matter how pathetic she is, she's still a lot larger and has a lot more magical firepower - Akane can pretty much drag P-chan into anything, so I'd give this one to Usa.

I think the disguise magic is an assumption based on the fact that they're nigh-unrecognizable despite looking exactly the same.
As for the villains discovering identities... The only one that easily pops to mind right now is Jadeite, and considering the three girls who fought him transformed when they arrived, he probably just noted 'these three are approaching me after I called out the Senshi, oh look, they transformed'.
-How do regular people in the sailormoon universe see the Senshi?

Typical superhero awe and admiration, as far as I can see.

Didn't she go back for Stars anyway?
There is no problem that cannot be solved through the proper application of immense levels of firepower.

Even without needing to rely on her spotty magical attacks in uniform I think Usa would be fine in a fight against P-chan. Might have a heck of a time getting a hold of him though, he's pretty fast when a pig. He'd probably be able to get away with little difficulty either way. Akane has crazy strength and he can ditch her. Any reluctance he would poses at hurting a girl would hamper his escape but would delay it more than prevent it. He'd probably be floored if she hit him while transformed though, magical attack or not. The power to size ratio he'd expect would be far different from what she's packing im sure.
As for the last question the most likely reason would be that her future existence was no longer dependant on his survival. Discounting a plot hole or guaranteed resurectability, Id wager him and Usagi got a start on the future.

In the anime, they can jump a couple of stories straight up untransformed.

about the Desguise field...
Manga: Nope not at all
Anime: Plausiable deniability, i.e. There is no way that ditz Usagi is Sailor Moon.
It is shown in a few episodes/ovas/movies (forget which) that they can be identified while transformed, at least at close range. At a distance Plausiable deniability seems to takes over. (I remember specifically that Mercury got IDed)
(I think Luna once said to Usagi that she wouldn't get identified)
(Actually I suspect that Luna and/or Artemis are mind whipping anyone who finds out.)
Storm trooper effect works against good guys as well.

Having a quick look back at the scene all it shows is this:
[Click on links for image]
-Baby Hotaru under a tree has a vision of Eternal Sailor Moon

Screenshot
-Vision ends and her father picks her up and asks what she was dreaming
-Wind blows, he turns around and sees Setsuna
-Setsuna says "Hotaru, I'm here to take you with me"

-Baby Hotaru makes happy gesture towards Setsuna
Screenshot
-Scene cuts off.
So it doesn't actully show his reaction towards Setsuna's coming to take Hotaru, but it seems innocent enough.

When I said could chibi-usa defeat P-chan I meant it. P-chan when he want's to can run around and bounce off of things fast enough that Ranma has trouble catching him. I've seen a music video in which P-chan casts the shishihadoken. Also P-chan is quite abit more durable than a normal pig. The way I was imagining the fight going was P-chan running around her faster than she can target, then head butting her several times or slamming into her head with his hooves, and finishing her off with a shishihadoken. I just want to know if he'd actually be able to do this if he wanted to.
What episodes do the Senshi jump really high? I can't remember them jumping really high ever but I do remember them starting out on a roof a few times and then jumping down. But it doesn't take the same amount of strength to jump down as to jump up, when I was a preteen I'd jump down from my one story garage and didn't get hurt but I can't possible jump up there. (Looking back at my childhood I'm suprised I never broke a bone.)
So Jupiter and Uranus are skilled enough to take on about a dozen (or more) people armed with weapons such as hockey sticks and who a few are martial artists (such as the sumo). I know they're magically enhanced but I didn't think they had the skill needed to fight them without getting the shit beat out of them unless they used their magic attacks.
Pale Wolf - During the episode where they were at the Tokyo tower I don't remember them jumping at all Usagi took the elevator and the other senshi after they couldn't get the elevator doors open used the stairs. So even though they fought at the tower how does that relate to their jumping abilities?

Well... I think they need to get up there - it's not like they'll delay ten minutes from fighting the monster to climb up onto a building for a dramatic entrance.

These people can take hits from world-destroying supernatural menaces, AM - they don't need to be that good, given that they can ignore any hits landed.
And they do have a rather impressive degree of skills - whenever Senshi fight melee-wise, they either get their ass beat down by a superior opponent, or they utterly trash the opposition (many many opponents) without taking a scratch. I'd certainly put melee-specialist Senshi above Akane's dubious skill level, lacking only in her monstrous physical conditioning. But magical girl transformations are good for making up the difference there.
There is no problem that cannot be solved through the proper application of immense levels of firepower.

Yeah but whenever they are in a melee it's their magic attacks that allow them to over power them the situation I'm thinking of they don't have the magic attacks just punches and kicks.
They can ignore any hit from them. When did they show that they were tough enough to take a hockey stick being swung hard enough to break the stick. I thought that it would be enough to at least knock them out. Also even though they are fighting beings who are supposedly capable of destroying the world they don't attack with anything near that power becuase if they did wouldn't a building or something be destroyed when they miss?
Also if they can jump so high why did they run up the steps of Tokyo Tower instead of jumping up the floors?

... They never used the magical attacks in the situations I'm referencing (barring the Moon one, where she only used the magical attack because it was able to suppress them without killing).

They... generally don't miss, and lay the smacking straight onto the Senshi.
As far as the lack of collateral damage goes, meh, the animators are apparently wusses.

Considering the glazed look in Professor Tomoe's eyes and the fact that Hotaru is willing to work and get along with Haruka and Michiru after attempting to kill her once (Sailor Moon S) and is on good terms with them after they did kill her (StarS) this might explain it actually.

After searching multiple websites and watching part of the anime (crappy RM that I forgot I had) in which summaries mentioned someone jumped I have concluded that the Sailor Senshi can not jump higher than Akane but can jump close to/about as high as she can.
Here's the results of my search
- can jump off of roofs episode 18 and 51 for example
- some of their enemies can jump multi-stories Alan ep 49 jumps several stories, cooan ep 60 - It's how this enemy manages to get away from the senshi
- Luna can somehow while in cat form can jump multiple stories ep 51 which makes no sense.
- Tuxedo Kamen can jump two stories up while carrying Usagi in ep 101 (his most impressive jump).
- in ep 102 Uranus and Neptune jump through a broken ceiling to the roof a little more than one story
- Found several situations where if they could they should of at the Tokyo Tower in ep 102 and in ep 60 to chase the villain.
Oh and not that this has to do with anything but does strengthen the theory that they have no disguise magic I thought it was really funny when Venus dressed as Sailormoon so that the enemy would stop thinking Usagi was Sailormoon (calling her a fan of sailormoon, saying a crybaby like her couldn't be sailormoon, how sailormoon is smarter and prettier) ep 102
Also pale wolf in reply to one of your earlier comments I think judging by other actions that they would spend time climbing up just to be dramatic especially Tuxedo Kamen and the outers minus Saturn.
