For 'Other kinds of relatives' there are the uncles Betfics and runners ups... sadly they are a bit scattered these days, but still out there.

Oh, now I understand because there are so many SM crossover entitled Uncles. About his parents though? And do you know also some fics where he's related to characters from other series called Hibiki? I discovered some interesting manga this way.

I always had a fascination for the Uncles Betfic stories... I followed them all, and still have copies and links to most of them.

A long, long time ago, well, as fanfiction goes. There was a well established Ranma author that ran a Betfic concept contest... The Betfic concept was 'Uncles', and had several required elements to qualify. The originator was Nighthawk off his anifics website... He went by a couple other names, the newest I'm aware of being NightHawkTM.

The concept was well liked enough though, that not only did people make stories for the Betfic, they made ones 'close to it'. Those did not really all officially qualify due to lacking one or more of the stated requirements or changing the setup, but still were decent stories in their own right.

Some of the authors continued the stories after the initial submission, some did not.

Here is the description:

Uncles! (A Ranma 1/2 & Sailor Moon X-Over)

Well, this one is different, I'll say that much. Hotaru Tomoe has thought that the only family that she has is her adopted parents. Well, she's wrong. You see the government has just found two uncles that had been lost for some years. Hotaru, say hello to Uncle Ranma and Uncle Ryoga! Yes, thats it, through Hotaru's birth parents marrage the two rivals are related! And they don't know it yet! Ranma recieves a phone call one night telling him of this mysterious new relative. After a brutal fight with Akane (she didn't stop malleting him once he was down) he decides to meet this new relative with out letting anyone else know. So in the middle of the night he leaves. There is a small problem, though, (besides when Ryoga finally shows up) Nabiki has been selling a lot of Ranma stuff, and when he gets out side of Nerima, he finds out he's famous. There are posters, wall scrolls, trading cards, pictures, and even video's of his battles in Nerima. Going anywhere suddenly becomes a problem for the cursed martial artist. More girls then he can understand want to date him, guys want to learn his moves, and children love him (he's like a superhero to them). And Hotaru happens to be one of his biggest fans. After all, he's got everything she wants, confidence, strength, and popularity. Wait till she finds out he's her uncle ^_^. Hope to see this written.

A summary to the known status of the bigger players:

Cobalt never continued the story past the three submitted chapters, but those three are on his FanFiction.NET account called Cobalt1.

Stacko in addition to the 5 chapters posted, actually continued and completed the story in draft form on thier own page to 11 chapters. Stacko is also known as Eric Thorsen. That page to my knowledge is only available through internet archive.

Deric aka Deric Wilson had at the time a web page, that web page is accessible only through the Internet Archive now, but he extended the story to 6 chapters, the 6th is merely a draft form.

Rob Kelk cheated a bit on his entry... a prologue only... and declared it an alternate universe entry to one of his other works... While that other story is actually quite good it is not really compatible with this concept.

Brian Drozd has been out of fanfiction a long time now, but never expanded his story past a prologue. Though it is interesting for some of the directions he took that the others did not.

C Rose is one author whom made a Uncles story that was *not* part of the betfic entries, as it does not truly use all aspects, and I think it was not quite finished in time... but it was a good sized story and went for 6 chapters.

NightHawk himself had a sort of somewhat story close to the Betfic, but was merely a prologue and notes, it has Haruka as Ranma's half sister and Hotaru as a relation as well. it was called Life and Hearts...
