Xander. A Girl?

Which has lead to a very annoying amount of "change Xander somehow for a YAHF and then have EVERYTHING else be exactly as in the episode down to copy/pasting speech" fics...

Sadly, the vast majority of YAHF seem to follow this pattern regardless of whether or not it's Xander who got the different outfit. There's nothing worse than having extended parts of a story consist of material taken directly from the source material with basically no changes except for the occasional, (insert character said) or (insert character did), none of which actually alters the story in any way, thrown in for seasoning. ... actually, that applies universally.

I have two fics focused on Buffy being the once who gets a "power up", in one she becomes a DC comics amazon, as powerful as Wonderwoman but without the accessories, in another she becomes a Time Lord, but having no clue what a Time Lord is. The first one is Buffy after the First evil, the second is Buffy after being revived by Xander. The second one is more dramatic since Buffy has to hide the fact that she isn't human. The first breaks the paper because is after the show ended and Buffy can't tell the Scoobies about the new her (They think she died for real) and the second breaks paper because Buffy stays during the Summer instead going to visit her dad, She plans to use the Summer lul to prepare herself better and get some new allies that won't betray her then they find our Buffy is a strange creature with two hearts and red orange blood. Also, Buffy has no Tardis, and she won't meet the Doctor for a long time.

But yeah, unless things change seeing a rehearsal of canon is boring.

I've been rewatching Buffy. Halloween is not the only place that makes a perfect opening for this situation. Are there any of these fics that are making use of the opening at the end of Once More With Feeling? You know the musical one. Xander reveals at the end he actually caused the invocation where the penalty/cost is to be taken to a hell dimension as the demons bride. They'd just have to have the Demon make a few changes instead of waving it " this time "

Not much of a buffy series fan (thought the original movie 100x better, was exceedingly disappointed they did not really use that backdrop for TV series), but one thing with this thread got me curious.

I always thought Alexander's character was liked because of his lack of permanent exposure or taint to supernatural things, with exceptions made for things like possession since they were both temporary and 3rd party.

As such, for a Ranma connection, wouldn't Jusenkyo make that character less popular?

I would have thought instead to keep his character popularity it would make more sense from a crossover point of view to either make him know or related to someone in series or make him possessed, perhaps by say the Ghost cat.

That does not preclude Alexander being born a girl though...

Well if Xander were born a girl nearly a third of the series relationship dynamics would go differently including when Willow discovered her preference for women. And the whole nearly unaffected except by possession and blunt trauma thing kinda went out the window when he started dating Anyanka (Anya) the former vengeance demon that he gets engaged to just before the episode where he summoned the demon for this musical hour and a half long spectacular. Sure the Demon thinks Dawn did it cause she shoplifts the charm that is used to invoke the summoning but it was Xander that did it.
