Amen. I have over two and a half gigabytes of fanfic on my hard drive. And I've read most of it. (Why throw it away? My opinion has changed often enough.) When the average paperback novel takes up maybe a megabyte (not those monsters some writers do) that adds up, in toto, to well over 2000 books -- assuming a lot of the books are collections of short stories, anyway.

My fanfic folder is around the same size with Ranma taking up 0.83 gigabytes. I tend to organise the fics into the folders Really Good and OK which makes it easier to find the stories I really liked while saving the rest that I sort of enjoyed. The horribly written and way off character fics are the ones I don't bother saving, I used to but the Bad folders where getting too big for stories I knew I would never touch again at a time when hard drive space was running out. Now that I have tons of space, I just don't feel the need to save bad fics.

When I have two terabytes, two gigabytes is a tenth of a percent. Why bother deciding? As for good/okay/bad, I tried that years ago and it was more trouble than it was worth. These days I just copy the really good ones into a "really good" folder.

(And I copy the "really good" folder onto my smartphone so no matter how boring the surroundings, I have something decent to read. Smartphones for the win!)

Any chance of a spinoff story where Ranma finds a beserk were to adopt? I also wonder if there are any stories where sure Ranma gave birth but is still mother to kids she didn't give birth to. You know adopted or just friends of her kids that she's also taking care of as a mother.

I haven't been able to do much fiction lately; but if I were to get back into Different Colors territory the next story would be Ranma and Akane adopting (or mentoring) the Bringer of Silence. That'd have to do. If weres do show up, that'd fall more under the jurisdiction of Rhett Butler and Shampoo. (I did mention the Amazon Cats, somewhere, I think. Ranma has married Akane, so Shampoo's looking. Artemis and Luna have married, so Rhett Butler is looking. Oh, yeah, and Ryoga is in Valhalla, an even more exclusive warrior-haven than the Amazon village.)

Sounds like fun, It would fit this search too if Ranma was called mama based on the water temperature ;) Too many stories end up with many parts of Ranma as in name only.

Does this count? Ranma is technically the father, but gets his curse locked while the mother is pregnant, and his daughter grows up thinking Ranma is her mother and the mother is her aunt.
In any case, it's a REALLY good story.

It works. The only condition on the relationship is that Ranma while in the role of mother is not the one who gave birth.

Wait that reminds me isn't there a near miss where Pluto calls a succubus Ranma Mom but it is left unknown that she gave birth to her?

Ooh, Causality reminds me, there's a much longer one that is similar(and even finished!), and then there's another similar and also much longer that stopped updating just one or two chapters after Pluto goes "wheee, MOMMY!" *glomp*, getting reunited after lots of timey wimey shenanigans.
Both were good enough that i still remember them, but also both from before i regged at ffnet, so i have no clue what they were called...?
I think Ranma was Pluto's actual mom in one and father(or just adopted mother??) in the other.

Thinking of the same fics Spica Last read them on a site that allowed lime and lemon content. it had a big design change a few years ago and became much harder to read... still drawing blanks on titles and now the domain as well.

I remember another story where Ranma and Akane find a girl in the grips of the Neko-ken. They manage to calm her and adopt her. I think she used to call Ranma "Mama" when he was in female form.
Then it comes out that there is some mysterious conspiracy that is taking children and giving them neko-ken training for some reason, and that's all I can remember about the fic. I recall that Ranma, Shampoo, Mousse, and Ukyo and possibly others mount a rescue mission to free a bunch of captured victims.
I don't recall much more about the fic.

It might be something the OP is interested in because of the kid. I thought I had it bookmarked, but if it is in my file it is misfiled.

Being the OP this thread. Yep that would definitely count. Even without being directly called Mom as long as Ranma takes care of the kids without insisting on turning back to a guy to be the daddy.

IIRC Ranma acted much like he does in canon about his gender, and he was called "daddy" when in male form, and "mommy" in female form.
