Nah I doubt that would work much. Interest in Ranma is dieing out, a few years back I was checking fanfiction.net every day for updates as there where lots of stories being written. However the Manga and Anime have finished for ages and so people are losing interest, and the fanfiction has slowed to a trickle.

...

How big of a trickle am I?

Damn it! I got into it way, way, WAY too late...

Of course, for something like that, I personally might have used the "title" element instead of Javascript. It's not exactly great if you're looking for a particular appearance, so I just use it for foreign words and such in my stories (you can see an example of it in the link above).
Is that a really old version of firefox or a mobile browser version? As for the look of what I had, I was going to use a version like a speech bubble but it sort of clashed with the looks of the rest of the site. What I currently have is simple for me to add new titles with a new description and it follows the mouse and is hopefully (fingers crossed) always fully visible and never off the screen. Anyway I had a look at doing it in CSS but it looked more complicated for me and quite a few premade code mentioned something about java so I wouldnt really gain anything to switch to it.

Should just be an "old" (about two or so years?) version of Firefox.

Personally, I find CSS pretty easy and straightforward. Here's what I use, with the stuff in red being what makes the function in question work; the rest is irrelevant.

a span {display:none;}

a:hover span {display:block;position:fixed;top:10%;left:26%;width:40%;border-style:solid;border-color:#ffbb55;border-width:4px 4px 4px 0px;background-color:#3333bb;color:#cccccc;font-family:"Times New Roman","Arial","Helvetica";text-align:left;text-decoration:none;word-wrap:break-word;padding-left:2px;z-index:3;}

The first part simply says that anything in a span tag, that also happens to be within a link (<a></a>) tag, will not be displayed. The second part has it so that that which is not displayed will appear (in block form) when the cursor hovers over the link, which the span is in, thus displaying whatever's in the span, while the position element will define where it will appear.

Other than simply using the title element to make text appear when hovering a cursor over something, I don't know what could be simpler. I just put whatever I want in the span tag and that's it:

<li><a href="http://www.angelfire.com/anime/next/SCP/S/amalifwt.html">A Martial Artist's Life<br>is Fraught with Trouble <span><center><font>Summary</font></center><p>Some time has passed since the failed marriage plot, and Ranma's living in a new house with his parents. Just when things have calmed down enough, and he's ready to tell Akane how he feels, fate decides to toss the mother of all monkey wrenches into his life.<p>Series: Ranma 1/2; To Love-Ru<br>Based on: Manga<br>Type: Continuation; Divergence</span></a></li>

But that's just me. It's still a matter of taste and one's concerns over browser compatibility. Position:fixed isn't supported all-around.

Yeah, but there are so many ways for this fandom to go, so many different crossovers and ideas, and I only got into it after nearly every fansite shut down and the manga was finished for fifteen years!

I am just a late person getting into fandoms.

It's better for me because then when I write, I won't be cobteidicted by canon that comes put later.

But then I'm like one who arrives late at a party where most people have gone home.

Well the CSS stuff does look simple however I spent over 7 hours doing what i've already done and its supposed to be pretty universal in terms of browsers unless the users have turned script stuff off, in which case they miss out and the site acts as it did before I added this.

Well, if you ever change your mind, just don't used the "fixed" attribute (I use it because I'm picky and a designed my site for it) for the position element and it should also be pretty universal with the added benefit of not being turned off.

I like that you are updating it.

Still sucks that it's not getting more views.

More views = more bandwidth. Obscure = affordable. High traffic mostly helps when it comes to having advertising.

Im not so worried about that, my current server is free and provides 6000mb with 50GB bandwidth per month.

I'll try to advertise how I can. Although, don't expect too much. You have more impact than me.

It's also wonderful that you are hosting .txt and .zip files of some of the more obscure titles that can only be found on archive sires otherwise. That's of GREAT benefit to the community. :)

Well every story that I add to the site, I have a copy saved on my hard drive. Actually every story I read has been saved onto the hard drive. So if a story disappears or I have problems finding the link because the original site has gone then I'll upload it to my site to make it easier to find.

If an author requests that I not host their fics then I have to take them down, such as Relatively Absent by Togashi Gaijin or Ten of Two both f which have been removed from my site by author request but can be provided by email if requested.

Noy Telinú wrote:IE sucks...

It does.

Everytime I used IE, some websites crashed a ton, like The Ranma lemon archive.

It is all a matter of individual experience...

I use IE as my main browser because it is actually more stable and faster than anything else I;ve tried...

I use Opera as my backup... it tends to be slightly slower than IE, but in at least a few instances it has proved more stable... and will show a site correctly that IE will not.

The worst browsers I've personally used are the old SBC/AT&T/Yahoo specific version of Internet Explorer, and a runner up is Mozilla FireFox on a windows system... Both are so much worthless crap I refuse to install either on a home machine. The oone saving grace of FireFox is it was rock stable on the last Linux machine I tried it on, but regrettibly Linux itself was not stable.
