Well, they're more for people who are collecting Vivillion, than anything else. I'm not aware of anyone using Vivillion competitively, anyway.

For anyone who's not sure what we're referring to, the special Vivillion that was promised when 100 million trades were reached on the GTS, has been released as an event Pokemon. You can download it as a Mystery Gift throughout this month.

For those of you who like collecting all the different Vivillion patterns - or just Mystery Gift/event Pokemon in general, the Pokeball-pattern Vivillion is now available as a Mystery Gift download until August 12, in honor of the US Pokemon Center online store opening.

...And another Mystery Gift event goes live. From today (August 13) until September 17th, if you have X, you can get Heracross through Mystery Gift. Y users can get Pinsir.

This distribution is being done in concert with GameStop, where you'll soon be able to grab the Mega Stone for the Pokemon above.

You can still download them, though. Free Pokemon, right? Unless you'd rather not have the PC box space wasted holding them...

Even if you don't want them, they might make good trade fodder.

Getting the Mega Stones probably wouldn't hurt, either (someone'll probably want those as well, so...)

I'd rather not drag my parents to Hutchinson just for a couple of shiny rocks. If one turns up on a Pokemon in the GTS then I'll try to get it, but otherwise my schedule's playing second fiddle to those of my parents.

Oops. This actually started on the 18th, but I've been a little busy...

From the 18th to the 31st of this month, you can now go to GameStop and ask for the card with the code that will give you the respective Mega Stone for the Pinsir or Heracross that you (can still) receive(d) over Mystery Gift. (Yes, you do have to ask the clerks for it.) The cards each contain a single-use code, hidden behind a silver scratch-off bar.

You can enter the code by going to Mystery Gift (from the main menu) > Receive Gift > Get With Code.

For X and Y, a new Mystery Gift event is available for download, a special Pumpkaboo.

For those of you in North America, a new event is running online this October. This event is a Super Size Pumpkaboo holding a Rocky Helmet and the moves Trick-or-Treat and Scary Face. As this Pumpkaboo is Super Size, it is very useful in the upcoming Trick-or-Treat Battle Competition where you are required to use Super Size Gourgeist. This event is running from today until October 31st so be sure to download it while you can.
