'Usagi/Mamoru cheating' fics

I find one thing strange on those 'Usagi/Mamoru cheating' fics.

If it's Mamoru who cheats, everyone rises hell, but if it's Usagi who's the cheater, it's absolutely okay.

What's up with that?

Can´t say i´ve seen it but my guess would be that it´s mostly a matter of perspective.

Unless the writer adds in the viewpoints of friends of Mamoru(which essentially doesn´t usually exist), then all you´re going to see is the viewpoints of friends of Usagi, and regardless of how critical they may be or not, they´re less likely to be truly harsh on Usagi about it. And if they are, it´s usually a bashfic and those are crap either way so i just drop them.

In any case... As you said, you have a show where the girls outnumber the guys probably close to 10 to 1... and was originally aimed at girls of around age 11 and below (not that other demographics, such as myself, cannot watch, but it will not be geared for them). So of course the girls view would win... besides, these girls are neither adults, nor realists... this is a rose colored romantic and black and white view of the world....

Those with a pessimistic, cynical, ironic, or realistic bent will take a far darker view of the series, their actions, and everything in between. Including dating scenarios.

Personally, I disliked they dropped the fact Mamoru was dating Rei when she was all but dumped for Usagi, especially when Usagi and Mamoru hated each others guts until she learned of his alter ego. I came away from that blowup disliking this for all three characters.

It makes Usagi to me come across as shallow and petty, Mamoru as heartless, and Rei as urging the romatic view...

As i´ve said before, there is a big difference between hating and annoying each other.
They never did hate each other.

Sure there´s a fair bit of that, but with the rest of the story, it is at least rather well shown that Usagi and Rei both go far beyond that, and there´s few people without flaws in their personality.
Mamoru never really manages a truly good impression though, i can probably agree on that.
But on the other hand, he´s not exactly himself a lot of the time(probably rather confusing) so he looks worse than he probably is.

3 things.

1, it's a real life double standard. Male cheaters are cruel thinking with their penises. Female ones are "confused".

2, it's a show targeted at young girls.

And 3, most fanfiction is by girls.

Not to mention the 90% female character rate or the fact that tux boy is older therfore should be more responsible. And the fact that he actually has a brain while Usagi... Well...

It's unfair? Yes. Unexpected? No. Now, compared to other fandoms, I'm surprised on the hating on the male being so large. Usually they hate on the girl due to wanting to be with the guy or wanting him to be with another. Maybe he just sucks too much as a character? Or maybe it's because he isn't a dark emo kid? O_o face it, the anti heroes get more love then the others.

Maybe perhaps most identify with Usagi while far less people are attracted to/want/identify with tux boy.

Another reason could be that tux boy is the mysterious protecter guy which can rub people the wrong way since he doesn't do anything yet importaint anyway. :/

Usagi does show off some decent intelligence occasionally, she just prefers not to engage her brain too often it seems.

In anime Usagi 'engaged her brain' as you put it so rarely her friends actually were worried enough to tell her off that she might not even be able to get into high school.

Not really. Stud vs Slut is usually applied to people who are single/have no commitment
When there's a relationship involved, though, guys are expected to not stray. If they do, they are pigs. Women that do it's assumed that men aren't "taking care of them" so they get more leeway (of course, bringing this back on topic, going by the anime Mamoru is a pretty crappy boyfriend even when they are supposedly happily together so it stands to reason a lot of fics lean toward that direction)

That changes... nothing.

The point was she was doing badly enough as a student and there concerns great enough they confronted her as a group about it. Well, Mamoru was not present for it, though a college student view would likely be similar.

She basically was trying to brush it off as irrelevant since she knew what she would be doing in her future anyway...

We also know her mom tended to low up at bad grades as well...
