Time to check what the Internet Archive has of Sears catalogues? Reading the Heath cats was certainly plenty of fun. I mean, why not have a big rack-mounted stereo system and a real fancy weather station in the house? Too bad that the H-11 was a really expensive piece of kit.

I just have to put this radio-related site in here because it has a jingle of its own.

Pillows shaped like anime meat. Should be something for your Lina Inverse altar. You still have one, right?

There is one item for the home office I have not seen mentioned anywhere: The muzak. One might as well start here to collect stuff to pipe all over the home cube.

If you like old radios (and there is some evidence you do!) you should check out The Pavek Museum of Broadcasting. They don't have as many pictures of the collections on the web as I'd prefer, but the "Resources" button has many interesting articles, often with photos and schematics.

Most museums are like icebergs - nine-tenths of their stuff is out of sight. I got to root around in the back room of the Pavek fairly often, and acquired a number of artifacts for the Bakken Museum. Fair was fair, of course, and the Pavek also got things from the Bakken. We both dealt with electricity, so there was overlap we could swap back and forth. The curator at the time, Steve Raymer, got the job by being a notable repairman of old electronics; it turned out he'd repaired my grandfather's old, old TV. (My brother brought it in to get fixed. Bad capacitors. 1940's capacitors were not always durable.)

Yes, I do like radios, old and new, but don't really collect.Mainly, I like listening to radio, with a tiny bit of DXing on the side. I heard New Zealand on SW (41m, IIRC) earlier this spring on a SuperTech SR-16HN portable. That, like the Realistic DX-440, is a badge-engineered Sangean ATS-803A.

I can do some MW band (your AM band) and LW band listening at home, but I have to go portable for most of it and about all of the SW listening. I also get an occasional bit of 90MHz skip coming in from Scandinavia, UK, France and Germany. Worth trying out if you have a spare FM radio.

Edit 1: A few hours after writing this post, I began receiving long-lasting skip from the Baltic throughout the FM broadcast band.

Edit 2: It became a long and intense Sporadic-E event (or two parallel events) with Swedish, Finnish, English and Dutch stations crowding the band. Oh, and a lone Norwegian local station, too.
