The British data/computing magazine The Register planned to release a paper plane in space (PARIS), which they (video) indeed did. Here's an article about the assembly of the plane. As you can see, it's not quite a normal paper plane, but Guinness gave them a world record for it. The record was beaten four years later by a US team..

An author penning as "Space Pirate Hamster" once wrote a one-shot that has Tenchi Masaki meet Ranma Saotome at a sports meet while still suffering from a Juraian cold virus somehow mutated by the ditz cop Mihoshi Kuramitsu (“I didn’t mean to infect the world! I’m so sorry!!!! WAHHHAHHHHHHH!!!!”). Ranma is infected by the virus which somehow gulps up the factors that control Ranma's genderflipping. The modified virus then goes on to infect Furinkan, the rest of Nerima, the rest of Tokyo, the rest of Japan and the rest of the world in roughly that order.

Other authors, thereamong the (in)famous Kenko, added vignettes with their takes on the situation.

Totally off-topic, but I was grabbed by an idea scorpion. (No plot, but I ave to get it out of my head.) It involves Those Annoying Post Brothers and Wolverine, both from comics so it's somewhat topical. You may not know the Post Brothers, so check their wiki first.

Ron Post and Deadpool insult each other. Russ Post and Wolverine watch, and make bets on the outcome.

(All four regenerate completely. Ron post is insane and violent, as is Deadpool. Russ post and Wolverine are less insane but can easily get carried away with the violence thing.)
