I had even more fun with this while rewriting my old fanfic into an original: the time is the 90s, my stand-in for Mercury had made her computer from fourteen Pentium MMX processors overclocked to 600 MHz, powered and cooled via magic. She is a *literal* Linux wizard, I am planning on including her letter to a confused Linus Thorborg "you may not know it, but your creation helped save the world".

The sad part is how often people need the reminder.

Like when some idiots came up with the "brilliant" idea in the Stockholm subway, riding on the outside of the train, even though it mostly goes through tunnels where doing so would get you "splatted", hah, that's nothing... Oh no, some idiots came up with the idea of going up on top during passage over certain bridges in central Stockholm, and then taking a swandive into the water from the train roof...
You may even be able to find a couple of youtube vids of it, i wouldn't have believed it before i saw one. It's so ridiculously stupid and dangerous you just have to, well, something, it's so stunningly daft i can't even think of a suitable comment.
