This actually happened to me in first grade. I was reading even then, and went through the "See Spot Run" books for the first grade, So I read the second grade Spots, and started in on the third when I was firmly told to stop that!

(At home I was going through Tom Swift, and when I finished that, went on to Perry Mason. When I found the Mickey Spillanes, I was again told to stop that! but at least for a different reason. So they distracted me with Nero Wolfe.

That art may be based on "Impacted Souls". It could equally be based on the sequel to Revenge of the Teriyaki by DragonGolem. I remember Tom Swift, Sr, and his son Tom Swift Jr. They were fun back then, but probably would not read well in the twenty-first century. There are all kinds of things I remember fondly, but having checked out a few, I was disappointed. I've decided to keep the fond memories safe. (I will watch Forbidden Planet when it comes by -- no sense ignoring some things.)

Here in the Chibi White North, small (usually open) boats are sometimes called boat-shells. And that thought led to a mental image of Venus, instead of a shell, stepping off an LCA to salutes from the crew.
