In yet another example of me finding out about stuff like this several months too late but reporting on it anyway, children's book author Beverly Cleary passed away back in March. She was 104, so I have to assume it was just due to the general effects of age.

Different people remember her for different stories. I remember her most for the trilogy focusing on Ralph S. Mouse, since I owned those stories when I was growing up.
