"Ranma falls for a guy" fic from years ago

Some time probably after early 2003 or so, I was flipping through the latest updates on the Ranma section over at ff.net and came across an AU fic, diverging early on in the series I believe, which had Ranma gradually falling for a male OC who for some reason was around the Tendos' a lot. (Can't remember if he was staying there or not.) I believe he ended up deciding to be a girl by the end, but I don't know much else about it.
What little I can remember about it: The fic had at least a dozen chapters (maybe even as many as 25, I can't recall) and I think it was complete, or nearly so. I didn't linger very long over it, and I wasn't terribly sane back then; so I don't know how reliable my impressions of it were -- but in hindsight, it seemed noticeably better written than average... Not that that's saying much, for ffnet.
The only individual _scene_ I can remember in any detail had a bunch of the characters bunking together in the guest room (at a minimum Genma, Ranma-who-considers-herself-male and the male original character). While I don't remember any lewdness being involved or what gender Ranma went to sleep as, she woke up female and cuddled to the OC (they both did the cuddling in their sleep), and feeling really peaceful and safe for the first time in years. I'm pretty sure she managed to extricate herself from him without anyone catching on (possibly except Nabiki, but I'm pretty sure her being bitchy about such an event was in a different fic -- I've read hundreds so I get a bit mixed up), and though she was ambivalent about it, she refrained from clobbering him because she'd awoken feeling so well rested. I'm pretty sure she promised herself to hurt him badly if it happened again though; after all, she's a guy, isn't she?
I wasn't interested in that sort of story at the time, and after I flipped through it for a couple of minutes, I moved on. I eventually decided that I wanted to read it after all, but despite going back several years in the Ranma section's updates listing, I was unable to find any trace of it; I think that either it was omitted from the listings when I went looking (ffnet's listing pages were pretty flaky for a while there), or (more likely) it fell victim to one of that site's insane witch hunts and got deleted.
I can't remember the author or the title, but I do know it wasn't Kaori Shimitsu's _Fragile Clay_. (Fragile Clay was OK, but in all honesty, the characters in it didn't bear much resemblance to their canon counterparts.) I don't think I read enough of this other story to form a proper opinion, but I'm reasonably sure it wasn't any _worse_ in its characterisation.

Well, while I can think of several that come close, I cannot think of any that fit those exact circumstances, and with that many chapters. I admit though, that this is an area I do not go too much into.
I assume it is not the Richard Lawson fic as well, as it is almost too famous to have not been considered. It was probably made a bit too late for it to have been it, but at 17 chapters, could it have been:

Nope, not either of those, although both of those are very good stories. I'm pretty sure _Happily Married_ only reached "complete or nearly so" status within the last year, too -- it doesn't fall in the correct time frame.
There's a major difference between the story I can't find and the two you suggest. In the former, Ranma's relationship with the mystery boy is largely a potential thing, i.e. one which mostly has yet to happen, and which Ranma approaches more or less by his/her own choice. In the latter two, Ranma is presented with a fait accompli -- not only does she make the shocking discovery that she somehow got involved with a guy, she is apalled to discover that she has had an honest-to-Floyd BABY at some point! Cue the screaming panic attack.
(Also, both of those suggestions involve time travel; the one I can't find did not.)

I'm afraid not. Besides all the near misses above, Tuisto saying it sounded awfully familiar (a few posts up on the page here) was the closest anyone came to answering. Alas, I received no feedback from anyone apart from what was posted to this forum.
So... anybody out there had their memory jogged yet? *looks hopeful*

Oh, I fully agree, but seeing as (if memory serves) I started the topic before that point, I can't really do anything about it. Um. There isn't any way to change it after the fact, is there? Now I'm going to be worrying about that.

...Dang. That's not it either. I'm pretty sure the story in question only had one Ranma running around... and the mirror-clone incident was quite late in the series, too, which I'm fairly certain the story I'm after was not.
I don't think this story is online anywhere any more, at least not in the usual places, though I hope I am mistaken.
"Reflections" is closer than any previous suggestion, though, I think.

I cant think of any that exactly match that description but There is one that has some similar scenes. Tenchi and Ranma, Together Forever (13 parts, 1 sidestory from the Penultimate Ranma Fanfic site by T.H. Tiger.
Ramnma is trapped as a girl permanently by Jusenkyo and is introduced as a female fiance. No real romance except in the very first potential stages in the last chapter. Ranma doesnt accept the permanence of his new gender until that point.
Its a crossover male and not an OC and the Tendos are only involved in subplots and have not even met Ranma yet. Probably the first Ranma fic I ever read I used to read Tenchi Muyo fanfics exclusively.
BTW this fic is long, probably 6 or 7 hundred pages. Its probably not the one you were after cause I dont even know if its on ffnet at all.

Sadly, that isn’t it either, for all the reasons you listed. We’re getting closer, though, I think… although the one I’m looking for had no one wanting Ranma to be a girl except, gradually by the end, herself (and possibly the guy she fell for; I have no idea how it ended, but would like to find out).

It used to be, long ago, but isn’t any more. I read it years ago and I agree that it's quite good. Too bad the author stopped writing it.

it MIGHT be aftermath a story of blended cliche's but that's probably not
i remember a ranma ends up a girl in a couple fics...

at least one or two by Eternal Lost Lurker (Her or Red iirc)
there was one really good one that had unfortunately i fail to remember much but a scene from it
ranma basically wearing raincoat / umbrella to keep from changing so the baby would come to term... but then the changes in that one happen while ranma is away at college

Here is one from the right time frame. Misery Loves Company by Ryan Eric. 6 years old and Updated fairly recently.
Ranma is in a coma for 20 years or so and is eventually healed by a reformed Happosi. Eventually returns to nerima under an assumed name and ultimately falls in love with Akanes son.
For most of this fic no one knows it is Ranma and Ranma is at least an equal instigator of the relationship he is in.
