A fic where Ranma/Akane is dead from a training accident.

To be specific, it's one where whichever one it was that died, (and I'm thinking it's Ranma) was killed from an enormous ki-blast. The blast left a scorch on the rockwall.

The one that survived either went mad, and actually thought they were the dead one, or was faking it.
I think Genma was ignorant of it, though He may have been playing along.


I can allready say it is NOT Caress by Materia-Blade, though that was the one that triggered my memories of the one I seek.

It is allso NOT Cast a Second Line into the Sea by Sinom Bre, though that is allso good.

Hmmm... while I may be way off on this one, it almost sounds like two different stories to me.

In the following, Ranma is killed by a demon from Happosai, and Akane goes insane, grabs Happosai's head, and crushes it, then through time travel, relives the series.

In the following, Ranma attempts to kill himself, but instead has his memories erased, and sent to a alternate dimension with Evvangelions after WWII. His attempt is made to look like it succeeeded by a goddess, and leaves a scortch mark on a sewer wall.

Although I could not find the title/match up in the Penultimate Ranma Archives, the story you are looking for has an amnesiac Ranma, who dunked himself in Akane's pool, to pose as her after Ryoga killed Akane by accident (the usual "Die, Ranma!") Ranma seems to have locked the new body, as well as repressed the memories, which are starting to emerge. "Akane" is accused of murdering "Ranma."

Everyone is clueless, except Ryoga, and he's going along with the plan. "Akane" is falling for either Hiroshi or Daisuke.

Hopefully, this will be enough to track down the correct title.

Thank you RMT, Akane does appear to be the one I was looking for.

I remember Sic Semper Moritui now, and it wasn't it. Good story though, need to finish reading it.

I think I've read Second Chances as well. Need to read that one.
