There is solid evidence that Tatewaki is _not_ a rapist. Given the chance, he will _not_ take sexual advantage of women, not even an unconscious Ranma in a deserted island.

I'm not sure if I'd go as far as calling Nodoka a saint. Keep in mind that she, too, has some rather odd views. I'd argue she's a 2.5.

I know it was only a one-shot character, but I'd think the cursed form of the Jusenkyo Enforcer (I know he's in the anime, is he in the manga at all?) could be considered "saint". This is stretching things a little by using a cursed form, but we really need someone in the saint category other than a deceased character that we know nothing about, save for a couple breif glimpses.

He's a spoiled brat and very mean but he does somewhat care about his people and his place in life is to provide for his people (heat and light) so in my opinion he isn't a 5 just close to it.

I actually completely forgot, anyone have an idea of what Herb should be ranked? I seem to not remember the story all too well, but if I recall correctly isn't part of the reason that he put Ranma through what he did because he attacked him first in the Nekohanten?

If memory serves,Herb had just tossed Akane at a wall,after she had been kidnapped by one of his warriors.I'd rate the Musk Dynasty as a 4.

I think the ranking for evil should be revised for 1.5:

1 - "Saint" - The monk who drowned in one of the pools in anime

1.5 - "Nice Good Guy" - Shinnosuke, Akari Sue

2 - "Average Joe" - Yuka, Sayuri

2.5 - "Mostly Harmless" - Daisuke, Hiroshi, Kasumi, Jusenkyo Guide

3 - "Questionable" - Ranma, Hinako, Nodoka, Dr. Tofu(3.5 if Ranma engaged to Kasumi)

3.5 - "Highly Questionable" Akane, Cologne, Konatsu

4 - "Nasty" - Nabiki, Tatewaki, Principal Kuno, Ryu, Ryouga, Ukyo, Shampoo, Gosunkugi, Herb, Taro

4.5 - "Very Nasty" - Mousse, Kodachi, Saffron, Happosai (one virgin sacrifice away from being 5)

5 - "Evil Hearted" - None

Hmm, the first person that feels that Nabiki isn't a 5. I think some people might like an explanation to that.

One thing I'd like to be discussed though is why you feel Mousse and Ryoga should be rated so high. Like mentioned before I would have rated them both a 3.5, maybe Mousse a 4, due to the fact that they actually show some hope of improvement and by the end ironically help Ranma more than his "beloveds" could ever hope to claim.

As for Happosai by the way, I agree with everyone that the 4.5 rating is probably appropriate since he does occasionally do some pretty awful things, but I think that to me there are other things besides the Santa Claus story that are points he has had some occasional nicer aspects:

-Felt responsibility for creating a monster out of Hinako and tries to stop her (or at least getting Ranma to)
-Saved Akane from being a giant splatter of guts on a cliff when monster Taro tried to ram into her
-Feels hurt when Ranma, Genma and Soun neglect to know him during the Octopus Pot Story.

I agree with this less evil rating -- Nabiki *is* nasty, but, she doesn't seem to go out of her way to be so. It's more like she's selfish, extremely callous and occasionally amused at other's plights, rather than setting goals and carrying out plans to cause pain to others.

Contrast, for example, Happosai's behavior when he decided Ranma has been disrespectful (strength sapping moxibustion, torturing others, eg: Genma and Tendos, until Ranma submits) to Nabiki's lowest points in the her stint as Ranma's fiancee or 10 yen storyline, where she did evil things, but without making doing evil a plan, more of by opportunity.

Where would people rate Genma and Soun?

It kind of says something that the characters with the lowest ratings are the ones are rarely seen.

Not having seen the anime for a long time and having only read bits of the manga, does Akane actually do any specifically good things to cancel out the bad?
