I may be mistaken about this, but isn't there a rule against authors listing updates for their own fics?

Why would there be a rule against letting people know that a chapter of their own story is available.

It's not like I don't already read some of Lawra's fics IE No Need for Nerima. And feel kinda weird seeing her fic listing without that Naruto one. And you didn't seem to complain when others posted about updates to their own fics.

I seem to remember Sunny or someone getting after a new guy for posting updates of his own stories a few months ago because this is as much a recommendation thread as it is an update thread, and obviously there are issues with authors recommending their own works.

There's no rule against an author noting their own fic has updated. And this isn't a recommendation thread.

Actually Com didn't misremember, it just didn't go as far as a rule. The two posts he was reffering too are on page 75 (I also remembered that and decided to check first)

You are misreading spork. He said my idea wasn't a bad one, and agreed with me. We actually spoke about it in IRC at the time too.

Ironically people that are arguing about one level of "spam" (self posting) are creating a whole new level of spam.

People don't come to the update thread to read about what should go on the update thread.
