PCHeintz72's Filtered Multi-Format List Update-05/25/09
Per PM discussions with both lwf58 and Sunshine Temple... my filtered Favorites list and Linked list that were formerly available only through Anifics or email are now available here on at Temple of Ranma's Sailor Senshi Seifuku (Fukufics).
Attached to this post is the filtered Favorites list and Linked list in RAR format, use WinRAR or another RAR extraction program to get at the files. Those whom used to get these files from Anifics should be familiar with the content.
Note 1, The lists are in multiple files, so one need only download the formats desired. More but smaller files allows me to fit them into the max individual file size of the forum, and potentially minimize bandwidth usage on those wishing to download the files.
Note 2, I am making available here currently only the BBCode & TXT formats of the lists. The other formats (CSV, HTML, OPML, & XML) have been tentatively deemed unneeded for mass distribution though I still create them. See the notes file in the TXT attachments for known Link oddities and discrepancies, history of how lists came to be, explanation of files generated, functions of the program, and reasoning behind the organization and naming conventions.
Warning, as has always been the case, be aware some of these links are to lemon or adult content stories. In most all cases either such is noted in the files, or noted on the various author pages or sites the links in the files go to. Open at your own risk.

SPECIAL FUKUFICS SPECIFIC EDIT: How odd... the forum automatically truncates the display of any link beginning with Fukufics site URL. The underlying links still works, but the display is seemingly deliberately distorted. I dislike that, as showing clearly where links are going is one of the reasons I display them in the way I do and dislike hiding the destination of hyperlinks. Oh well. I've known of the '...' truncating on long link lengths and learned to live with it, but this is new, and something I had not noticed last could updates.

Well... it is not truly a big deal, but I was surprised when I noticed it, because I know it did not do that before. And had not noticed it in any prior updates.
I double checked because I had thought somehow the program I used to generate the links listings had somehow messed up, as I made a bunch of changes to that program over the last week.
Many of the changes are only going to be seen moving forward or if you ever get the complete set of files from this point forward. Biggest change to the BBCode format of the list is the hyperlinks starting with the next post are now compliant with stricter BBCode rules and will look correct in offline BBCode editers, like Kyrsoft BBed... previously, they did not, though still worked with the relaxed rules BBCode based forums employ. TXT format recieved no changes. Other formats recieved heavier changes, particularly CSV, HTML, and XML, none of which are currently posted here. Changes also were made in the RSS/ATOM Feed lists for BBC, CSV, and HTML. All told, some 10 changes, plus 1 minor visual tweak, were made.
Only change left I've been waffling on (for a long time) and debating whether I should make is support for stating how many files a story or entry has. Easy enough to actually implement, the debate instead is on whether it would be worth it or anyone would actually care or want it. If implemented, I would only show it on those entries that consisted of more than one file, except CSV where it could be good for sorting purposes.

I plan on a new full filtered release update of my listings ideally sometime this weekend (first since late May, so 2+ months, blame RL and a new job), perhaps as late as Monday, as I have some stuff coming up.
I made two changes, a visual change and a usability change, to the output on my program, and since I currently have both set up basically as a switch to go back and forth between old and new, figured I would run them past others first.
For the visual change, in the past up until now, I've had stories status classed in a certain way:
- If it is a story I've lost track of, or do not have valid links or author name for, status is 'Unknown'.
- If multiple chapter and complete, status is 'Complete'.
- If single chapter or file release, whether complete or not, status is 'Single File'.
- If multiple chapter and not complete, status is 'Not Complete'.
I want to change that to the following:
- If it is a story I've lost track of, or do not have valid links or author name for, status is 'Unknown'.
- If complete, status is 'Complete'.
- If not complete, and within 1 year since last downloaded/updated, status is 'Not Complete'
- If not complete, and over 1 year since last downloaded/updated, status is 'Probably Dead'
The new method gets rid of the old distinction of 1 file or single chapter stories being classed as 'Single File', and instead notes two classes of not complete, depending upon time passed since last time I downloaded it, which in most cases will be the last update.
My main concern for the visual change is I originally when first making the program had classifications for dead and one-shot and I got some severe criticism over it. That was why I moved one-shot to single file, complete or not, and ditched any hint of dead wording.
I suppose I could change the wording from 'Probably Dead' to less harsh wording perhaps 'Probably Inactive' or 'Inactive' to placate those whom complained last time.
For the usability change, I was wondering how many, if any of you, would be put out if I switched from RAR to 7z for the compressed file format.
Opinions? Commentary?

Though I did not really give out the files much until Caliban over at anifics made some suggestions and requests pretty much in the form of a challenge which put the 2nd release was 10/14/2004.
