Ranma kicks the can

I recently came across a series called Nyan Koi, and I thought its premise might be a good idea to incorporate into Ranma 1/2. That is to say: Ranma ends up in the same position as Junpei Kosaka, in Nyan Koi, after kicking a can and damaging/breaking the statue.

I was wondering if anyone else would think it a good idea for a fic, since Ranma is afraid of cats.

One thousand requests to send a human fleeing, screaming like a cat in heat with her tail stepped on. I can see the local cat population laughing it up.

"Do it again!" the kitten asked it's mother.
"Now that you've all seen how I did it," the mother cat chided, "you can do it yourself when the funny human returns to his den for food."
"Yeah!"
"I wanna try, Momma!"
"Me too!"
"Yes! Oh, yes! I'm next. Can I please?"
"Settle down now, children," their mother said over the excited mewling. "Wait until the transgender human is holding its food. Then, we can all sit back and enjoy the show with a good meal."
"Okay, Momma," five kittens answered together. This was more fun than turning over the neighbor dog's water dish.

Is it wrong that I feel like beating the snot out of those kittens, and tying the mother up to a concrete slab and tossing said slab into the sea?


But anyway, I had a fleeting thought about Ranma when I read the description of that series a few days ago, but never really bothered to think much up. XD

It might work, but how to make the premise work with the whole wish granting thing? I don't know enough about Nyan Koi to figure out if it'll work as an overarching plot. I mean are you putting Ranma in the Nyan Koi universe like what it appears you're thinking of doing, or are you fusing the two plotlines.

Sounds about right for Ranma 1/2 ;p

But, yeah, it's basically Ranma 1/2 with Nyan Koi's premise. And the wishes are more like doing something that a cat wants, rather than like a genie. It's just that it'd be fun to see him try and help out cats when he's afraid of them.

Heh...does that mean he'd have to grant Neko-Shampoo's wishes too?

It's a possibility, I would imagine. It'd probably make an interesting part of the fic, if Shampoo finds out what he's doing and tries to take advantage of it.

I don't think it was ever stated. But he did want to marry Neko-Shampoo... >.>

But I was thinking maybe the Ghost Cat could be the one that'll curse Ranma.

But he's not the guardian cat of that area. ;p Or, at least, he certainly doesn't act like it. And, without looking at the story (since I'm between commercials right now), did "Mai Mo Lin" originate from China? Name sounds like it's Chinese, at least.

Hmmm I don't know how the guardian thing is going to work. And when in the Ranma series are you going to inject the Nyan Koi plot? I'm assuming you still want this in the Ranma world right?

Also I wouldn't know too much about this, the only thing I got is the two scanlated chappies, and they're incredibly vague. Maybe it's all fleshed out in the anime?

It should be simple enough to have a temple dedicated to guardian cat deity. Exactly when in the Ranma 1/2 timeline, well, you could probably start it anywhere: from before the beginning, and after the end.

There's one anime episode subbed so far, and it explains enough about how things work by the time it ends. Basically, for angering the guardian cat deity (for the incident with the statue), he has to help cats on one-hundred separate occasions (since, in the anime episode (I haven't read the manga, yet), helping a group of cats only counted as one act), or else turn into a cat.

Would helping the same cat, multiple times, count? I mean this could potentially be manipulated into a ShampooxRanma shipping if that's the case. Get 'im used to her in both forms and she gets to know him on a more personal level from all this interaction. But, that doesn't seem very interesting at all. Also, I'm pretty sure there is a romance subplot in Nyan Koi between Junpei and Kaede, that I'm not sure would be able to be translated properly into the Ranmaverse. Then again my only exposure is the anime, and I could be proven completely wrong about my deduction.
