Magical Girls, Spacebattles Style

For submitting and talking about story ideas. Idea submissions must be at least five paragraphs long, and include plot points, summaries of which characters are involved, and, for fanfiction, how it differs from canon. Both original and fanfiction ideas welcome. Though original works should have more development. Replying posts must give actual commentary, no "GREAT IDEA" or "THIS SUCKS".

Well... I don't have a lot of specific responses, but figured I should indicate my own pleasure that this project's still kicking.

Also, 'Ribbon One' has me thinking it's an Ace Combat reference.

... As a side note, would I be able to draft you to create theme music for my own stuff? You're good, what can I say?

Check your inbox if you haven't already...

Anyway.

I'm having trouble deciding. Slade suggested starting the project as a comic, and I'm semi- for, semi- against it at the same time. And conclude that I'm indecisive. So let's hear what you people want to see.

If we go ahead with comic production, I'm going to try and talk Dave into giving us a slot on SNAFU-Comics. (You know, PPG Dojin, Grim Tales, SNAFU, Sugar Bits, and all those.) But I need to make up my mind first... and when I get indeceisive like this, the only cure is input.

Hm... Comic style can be good, unless you're doing tricks that requires the amount of information you can carry across in text. It depends almost exclusively on how good the art is - since I haven't seen Slade's art, I can't really comment on it, but do you think he draws well enough to be the very first (and in some cases only) thing people see of the project?

He slapped this down in ten minutes while I was describing the interplay between two characters.

Sounds like the art's up to spec... as long as he can keep up with your 'directorial vision', I'd say it could turn out pretty good.

Ok, so, well...I guess I've been asked to list my skillsets here. Uhh, I don't have many, I'd like to contribute writing talent and such if that would be useful, or at least help out any way I can.

You know, after reading a description of the kappa as polite humanoids who always wear hats, I keep thinking of John Steed from the Avengers TV series....

I've read your thread here, and felt like brainstorming a bit. :D

One of the biggest questions for the villians is "Why now?" My answer is "the internet". (I think Civilization 4 has it right: the internet is a Wonder of the World.) The kitsune took some time to understand what the humans had built, as they have a fundamentally different way of looking at the world (TV probably was weird too), but with time, they realized that they could use the internet (oddball forums, natch) to organize a global search and destroy mission, familiarize themselves with human tactics and (modern) technology, and research their targets (social networking helping the bad guys getting 'connected'). Maybe all the victims had accounts on a popular world-wide social networking service (you know, like facebook).

Edit:
As for a superweapon, how about something that can overload electronics in an large area. Worldwide. After a couple of demonstrations (Japan and South Korea would be probably ideal), they could hold humanity's technology hostage. As for being a small thing on the galactic scale, it could be a (ham radio equivalent) interstellar transmitter. (If you can cook popcorn and have radiation warnings from a satellite dish...)
