If they hadn't done a rewrite he would have been locked with his name stuck to a prior directors efforts. That is why I'm glad they are doing a rewrite.

Me too. Which is why I remain excited and hopeful that he and the rest of the team will give Godzilla the proper Hollywood treatment he's been deserving since the 90's.

Zilla wasn't that bad but it would have been better if they didn't try to pass that Gila monster off as Godzilla.

It looked decent but it wasn't Godzilla, which is why it made every fan curse out Hollywood. In fact, that concept wasn't there from the getgo. When Jan de Bont was the original director, it had Godzilla fight a monster called The Gryphon and the design by Stan Winston was more faithful.
