I'm sick at the moment and there's some dried snot on my flat screen monitor and TV. How do I clean that?

With a barely damp cloth, a light touch and a little bit of disinfectant.
If your spirit has wings to travel, even across the breadth of a thousand, million nights, imagination will guide the way and the gates of El-Hazard will always be open to you.

Damp cloth with a little bit of water. Sadly they deliberately coat many flat screens with a film that melts in presence of ammonia to make it so you can't use Windex any more.

If plain water doesn't work, then I usually recommend the solutions sold for cleaning eyeglasses. There are commercial cleaning solutions for LCDs, but I have yet to find one that doesn't leave behind major streaking.

Also, it's recommended to use microfiber cloth for cleaning LCD screens to avoid scratching or lint. Again, they are commonly sold to clean eyeglasses.

Is it possible to record TV programmes on my hard drive (the computer is already connected to the TV with a HDMI cable)? If yes, do you any programmes that can do that?

Fraps, if you're displaying the TV program on your display, iirc.

So, it can only record from the monitor and not from the TV itself? Usually I have no trouble surfing on the internet wjile watching at the same time video files on the TV.

Yes. If a computer can be connected to something, someone has probably figured out a way to use it to do things.

A simple web search turns up lots of answers. Just search for the term "recording tv on my computer".

The thing is HDMI is giving you a video signal instead of having something like a TV tuner card, most TV tuner software also has recording features.

Too bad not all HDMI cables also carry audio... Without both its a bit hit and miss doing recording.

I get both picture and sound. I have an ATI Radeon HD 4800 graphics card.

If you are using a program other than windows media player (Which use to do this too but might not any more.) check it for a record feature. If there isn't a button with a round red dot there could still be one in drop down menus. Even Quicktime has one if you have the full version instead of the free version.

I'm using Media Player Classic. Doesn't have a recording feature apparently.

Try VLC -- it has a capture feature and a convert/save feature. It's freeware, for almost any platform.
