Was to crawl out of working remotely and go to work to meet my colleague today.
Overslept and agreed to move the meeting to tomorow.
And this happens:
https://youtu.be/DXoOp1g1OJ0?t=8 subway service interrupted, my destination station is full of smoke
Note the train that caught fire is a troubled 1990s design (cobbled together from mismatchingly painted cars too) that lies between the old soviet design (a tank in disguise) and the modern trains (video screens and USB charger ports everywhere, the entire train is one uninterrupted wide corridor)
In this unique era any train you encounter could be any of the three.
Returning back from work would have been
fun.
This reminds me of that one other time (2009?) I overslept and missed terrorists blowing up a train right on my route to work

P.S. In the last years Moscow hit a growth spurt it haven't seen in half a century -- longer than I've been alive. The scale of construction is simply insane. New subway stations pop up like shrooms, former industrial badlands sprout vast apartment blocks, newly streamlined highways curl with grand multi-level crossings overhead, all trolleybuses somehow got replaced with electric buses when I wasn't looking...
I can hardly recognize the city I was familiar with less than a decade ago
