We had a wonderful store called "The Four Firkins" just a few blocks from our place. It sold
beer, for a generous interpretation of the term. (They had shandys, Belgian lambic and kriek beers, and just about everything else based on fermented grains.) My favorites were Hacker-Pschorr Munich Gold, Bombardier from England, and a Belgian cherry kriek. They didn't stock mass-market beers.
They had to move to a bigger place, a couple miles away, which was okay because it was just across the street from my favorite computer store. But then all the other stores that sold tasty alcohol got the message and stated carrying craft beers and a few imports. That was a pity, because the Firkins went out of business. The other stores had a lot of over-hopped craft beers. But at least I talked them into carrying Schell's.
