Hello from somewhere in Canada!

Postby Shadow General » Thu May 11, 2006 2:37 pm

Greetings all. I was a member of the forumbefore the server melted, but I tend to lurk wherever I go. Must be a side effect of my training, I dunno....
Speaking of training, I am a member of the Canadian Forces, and am more then willing to answer any questions you may have about army life in general, or certain things in specific. I will NOT answer certain questions, not out of classification or any other such thing, but because I don't speak about some things.
I tend to be very busy these days, so I may disapear for a while if the workload gets too much, but I will try and bit a bit more active in this forum then I was in the past.
Oh, and I think I'll stay out of spamville unless I bring my tank with me.... And maybe an entire troop as backup. :-p

Free healthcare? Oh well, welcome back to the forums then, Shadow General. No need for a tank or troops in Spamville, they only delay it for about 5 seconds anyway. Best bet is one of those accessories that auto-revives you when you die. Hope you enjoy your stay, and you may want that looked at soon. *Points to the injured leg.*

Indeed, a tank or a few men are useless in Spamville. A lot of tanks and men, however...
Yay for brute force and ignorance!
After careful study of Number One's biographic work My Ceaseless Quest to Conquer Earth and Destroy its Puny Inhabitants, we have come to the conclusion that the Ghast Empire may well be up to something rum.

Well, if one tank won't defend me, I guess I'll bring in a squadron of them. :-p
I got shot in the knee? Bah, happens so frequently I just don't notice anymore. Where's my band-aid's? That should do it....
Thanks for the welcomes!

I'd suggest a bolo or bolo squadron.

Do they really have monties(sp?) on horseback up there? :?:

Welcome! This is the place where there are lots of transformations into magical girls, most of the time involuntary. I hope you enjoy your... eternal stay here. Also, remember Murphy-san's law, it'll also come turn if you venture into Spamville.
Oh, would you like your seifuku in violet with white trim, grey with gold trim, or silver with black trim?

Welcome welcome. Enjoy your stay. Beer and nuts can be obtained in Acey's bar... for which you'd have to enter Spamville. Which you prefer not to do I take it from the tank comment.

One measely tank is eaten for breakfast in Spamville, and the troop will be decimated by the first tiny explosion caused by whatever pathetic reason. More tanks and more men will just make it easier to hit something.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) still have a mounted troop, but it's basically ceremonial only nowadays. The riders are all policemen, able to arrest you etc, but the musical ride is just a show. They don't really patrol on horseback anymore.
Hmmm, my fuku... how about dark green with black trim?

There's a few places in Vancouver where you'll still find mounted police but I believe that they're VPD not RCMP

Hello to Shadow General, somewhere in Canada, from somewhere else in Canada, which will remain Vancouver.

The VPD does have mounted patrols in Stanley Park. And occasionally in Gastown.
I seem to recall having seen mounted police in Toronto, too. TPS I believe rather than O.P.P.

Welcome General! I too have served in the army, though in the U.S.ofA.

In Los Angeles, and a number of other cities in the US, they recreated mounted policemen many years ago because they found that they are very effective in crowd control, park patrol, and several other situations. Plus, they are a very good public relations tool; people love to go up and see the horses. Mounted Police aren't just not dead, they have made a comeback.
