It will be interesting to see what they conclude about M9 not hurting her at all. She got a good scare but it is kind of against most of their enemies MO to not hurt someone. Course they may chalk it up to Uranus and Neptune getting there before it got to that point too. I like the mini-mystery aspect of not knowing why M9 is looking for Pluto. Probably want to keep it under wraps until a confrontation or situation where she has Pluto at her mercy.
The confrontation scene was really nice, the drama definitely draws you into the action. The situational intro at the begging was nicely done as well. It had a good paced build up. With the part where it mentions the children gathering in the courtyard I thought there was something unusual there that was drawing their attention (crowd). The senshi would really be unnerved if Ranma had been at the school or near it (or showed up later). Heck could even have been one of his persuers that he beat down.
Ryoga groaned as anouther one of the anoying brats poked him with a stick. 'Ranma you'll pay for making me endure the hell of childish curiosity!'

The phone rang out suddenly, and she started, almost hitting her head on the refrigerator door as she jumped.
Wondering if it was Michiru calling in early, she went over to the device and picked up the phone.
“Hello?”
“Is Setsuna Meio there?”
Hotaru frowned. She didn’t recognize the voice, as it sounded rather muffled, and all Setsuna had told her was that if someone called asking for her, she was to write down their name and their message.
“She’s not available right now, can I take a message?”
“Where is she?!”
Hotaru’s frown deepened. This person seemed to be rather rude.
“She’s out.” She didn’t clarify, and the voice said nothing. “May I have your name and message?"
“My name isn't important, but it’s very urgent. Tell her that…….” The voice stopped without warning. Hotaru stared at the phone, wondering what had happened. She replaced the phone on the hook, and picked it up again, intending to see if there was a dial-tone.
There wasn’t.
She shrugged, and replaced the receiver. She picked up the notepad by the phone. Either Happosai would call back, or he wouldn’t, but she would write what little he had said.

Well, you fixed this part from the first version and broke it again in the fix <g>. Where in that conversation did Hotaru hear Happosai's name?
(I know I'm picking nits here, but the "broke it in the fix" routine is something that's really easy to do when you're revising initial drafts.)

Hey, I'd rather people correct me now now than look like an idiot later.
Actually, I just missed his name as I edited it the first time, it must have been in there twice....
The only reason I can think of is that I was already running out to work, but it's still kind of silly.

As for it being Ranma's style, that may be true, EDIT: who knows what Mistress 9 would do?

Thanks for the replies on the henshin situation, and I may use something similar. It's a good explanation, and could also explain Pluto's potential non henshin stick transformations that some have claim to seen.

Besides.....who says what her "Attack" wasn't with the intention of generating such reaction....and get the identities of the Sailors in one fell swoop?

Hmmm... The simple fact is that the average Sailor Moon bad guy is as dumb as a corpse. Practically none showed any real intellegent reasoning ability in the series. Given that, a combined Ranma/Mistress 9 would be a complete new ball game for them, one they would not be up to accounting for except possibly as a overwhelming outpower out gun with numbers strategy.
In this case, the merging of a post Saffron Ranma with Mistress 9's powers in effect does give you a uber Ranma. Now, whether the author chooses to use that to its fullest extent or not is up to him.
However, were he to choose not to, it could be either chalked up to a couple different reasons. the newness of the merged personality, or the uncertainty of detection by magical means of the umisenken, or the least likely of the new person holding to Ranma's honor system on its use.
Also, given the possibility of detection could very well be the reason for singling out Pluto initially. Though I would also want to go after Michiru and possibly Rei given that scenario.

Nah, I doubt she's actually doing the 'dark queen' thing this time 'round. After all, if you're fully intent on going antagonistic, why not snap the neck of their main artillery when you've got her helpless? I would.
I'd say M9's got something deeper going on in her head, and if she ever gets to... 'talk'... with Sets, we'll probably be able to figure out what it is.
If nothing else, she expressed distress at the thought that Hotaru might be dead.

You don't need to use the Yamasenken at all...as Ranma never fully learned that school from what i remember....as He only learned the Umisenken school...to being capable of counter Ryuu Kumon...
the Umisenken is based in AVOIDING direct confrontation and being seen for the enemy, only striking when it counts......
For the M9-Ranma being..is a ideal way to don't need to use magic if she wishes to observe or follow the Senshi...as Mercury should have lectures of her magical energies and Mars has a really refined capacity to feel beings of her kind ...and as both are far more skilled on their fields......
She wouldn't be Uberpowered...but far more skilled in the art of evade and dissapear from their detection....or surprise any of them..if the situation requires it....
Besides...we don't know if M9-Ranma is using the instinctive knack of the old Ranma for develop variants and counters of existent attacks....and applying it to her magical abilities.....

While I agree about taking out Pluto and Michiru to prevent magical spying, I don't really see the point in taking out Rei. Her fire readings are more of the vague divination / prophecy style that I honestly can't remember being actually useful (or generally making any sense until well after the fact + a lot of thought). Though for thoroughness's sake taking Rei and Ami out would effectively gut the senshi's 'intelligence' branch/element.
Actually without Pluto, Neptune, Mars, and Mercury, the senshi are up a creek without a paddle, plan wise (though waiting for the enemy to strike and then blasting it till it stops moving has always worked well). I suppose the cats are back in charge...
Actually thats a good question to ask (but I don't expect a straight answer): Does the new and improved M-9 have character defect=nekoken fear?

Chapter 1 Omake extension:
She had been worried when Hotaru hadn’t called, and had attempted to use the Deep Aqua mirror to see if Hotaru was all right. When it had shown nothing, save a dark 5-pointed star, she knew that something was not right, and she said so to Haruka. The other said nothing, but called the waiter over, and paid for the meal. They were out the door before the waiter could ask any questions, and had jumped into Haruka’s car, and the short-blonde haired woman had broken several speeding ordinances on the way back to the house. The transformed on the way, knowing that whatever they would encounter could only be fought with Senshi magic, as well as using the disguise fields to prevent being noticed.
They had burst through the door to their home, and had heard only silence. With experience born of youma hunting they made their way thrue the house. The tension and dread that hung over the pair increased as the noislessly ascended the stairs. Uranus grit her teeth and Neptune whispered a silent hopeful prayer as they crept toward their final destination- Hotaru's room. Taking a moment to listen at the door the sound of movement and breathing was a gratuitous torture that meant they were either overreacting or too late. With no small amount of trepidation they nodded in tandem and kicked the door down.
The house was swallowed in silence.
"MOMMA?!" Hotaru squeaked. Her hair pooled around her and the sheets pulled up to her chin in fright. The pair of senshi sighed in releif as they dropped their transformations. "Hotaru we were so..." Michiru trailed off as she took notice of the pair of eyes regarding her from behind her daughter. Her steps faltered as the body connected to them jolted her memory like a bucket of ice water. "Wha...?" Haruka asked helpfully of the connundrum watching them apprehensively. "Um. Sorry about this?" the girl said hopefully. That her action was accompanied by a nervous hand idly scratching her neck did little to help the situation when it dislodged the sheet protecting her modesty. Hotaru's parents collapsed to the floor caught between shock, outrage, and a little blood loss.
Michiru would make sure to punish Haruka for that proud silly grin later.

They're handy at least to say 'something's there, and it ain't too friendly'.
Of course, finding members of your team lying in pools of their own blood probably tells you that too...

Not counting the freaks (Saturn and Moon), with Pluto, Neptune, and Mars out of commission, the senshi are down to maybe a fifth of their 'blast-it-till-it-forgets-how-to-move' capability too...
Although if you do have the freaks, the others don't really register anyway.
